I was backing out of laundry room and tripped over ironing board. Fell flat down on both knees (skinned them) on hardwood floors. Face fell on carpet..Hit nose and glasses. Knees hurt for a few minutes...That was 10 hours ago.....NO bruises on knees.. I walked all afternoon with family..on a downtown Octoberfest. I cannot believe I have NO bruises on my knees..and I take coumadin. :) :) :) Bonnie

Iron?

Iron?

Who me? :D Hubby does all his ironing. I hang his shirts up out of dryer..but he is so prissy. Still wants to iron them :p He has my blessings... :p Still no brusing..One knee cap hurts if I push on it...Getting ready to take my Granddog for a walk..Keep it loose. :D Bonnie

ouch!

ouch!

Hi Bonnie. Sorry you had a scare. So glad it wasn't worse!! I am still pre-surgery, and just take a baby aspirin every day. I was stepping up into my house from the garage (it's a wee bit taller than a normal step) and slammed my left knee into the door jam. It really hurt for awhile that day. Stopped thinking about it and 5 days later this greenish foggy bruise covered my whole kneecap! So, don't be surprised if you find your knees bruised one morning this week! Maybe it's something to do about the knee cap being on top of bruisable tissue. I'll be curious. Let me know.

OK, Bonny. No more clumsy falls. Only graceful falls from here on out.

Glad you seem to be OK. Helmet, elbow cushions, tooth guard, and kneepads for ironing from now on...

Best wishes,

Bonnie, I'm so glad that you are okay and didn't break something. You take it easy now and watch out for those ironing boards! ! ;)

?????why were you backing out of the laundry room? I'm glad you are OK! :)

It was a conspiracy between the iron and the ironing board.

The iron said, "Back out of the room slowly."

Meanwhile the ironing board knelt down to trip her.

They plotted this to get her attention since she has been ignoring them lately.

Oops! Watch out for that first shirt! I am so glad that your fall wasn't serious.

I would recommend to put some ice on your knees.
On my experience sometimes it may take up to a couple of days for mark to be visible. Be careful next time. :)

I had a clumsy fall a few months ago. I cut my head just above the eyebrow and had several stitches. I felt OK for a few days but then started having headaches most of the day for several days and had problems walking . I went back to the hospital and was told I had a pool of blood pressing on my brain. My coumadin was stopped and I underwent 4 catscans an MRI, an x-ray and an echgram. It took several days before the pool diminshed to allow me to go home. The headaches lasted a few weeks more and I became more stable. Everything is OK now.

I have been taking Coumadin for 16 years, but within the last year I had two serious episodes of bleeding. None before that. The first episode was due to lack of knowledge of my cardiologist and a technician. They both should have known that the procedure recommended, EECP, was not to be given to someone on blood thinners. At the time I was also taking Plavix.

Bon

Get rid of that dam..d ironing board....tell hubs to go to the cleaners if he wants things pressed. Ironing boards are the curse of the devil, I tell you!!!

Evelyn

PS.....Glad you're fine.

Ban desks & ironing boards

Ban desks & ironing boards

I am sitting here with an ice pack on the back of my leg treating a huge hematoma. I caught the edge of my desk yesterday at work and my leg looks like someone covered it with midnight blue eye shadow. I think we need to either get rid of ironing boards and desks or ban work altogether.
Any thoughts?
Glad your knees made out better than my leg.
Take care,
Gina

I have long advocated that retirement should come before you start on your carreer. That way people would be young enough to enjoy the free time. Then at a ceretain age, say 50, you would start to work. That way you would avoid a lot of stupid mistakes that young employees make. You would also be home to raise your children. Besides, look how many older people go back to work after they retire. It must not be as much fun as it is advertised!!

Live backward

Live backward

There was a Star Tek Voyager episode that focused on an alien culture where the people lived "backward". They were born old and died as very young children. That way, by the time they were 30 or so, they had 50 years of experience to use while enjoying the pleasures of youth.
It sounds like a great idea. People make silly mistakes and bad judgements in their twenties because they don't have the experiences we over 50 folks have.
I think I would like to live my next life in such a culture.
But then, of course, I would also choose to not be on coumadin.
Smiles,
Gina

Thanks

Thanks

To everyone who replied to my thread..The ironing board was folded.. :D Outside, the small space where my washer/dryer is in..near the kitchen...Hardwood floors...Tripped because I have to remove the ironing board to open the dryer...and fell over a pile of clothes on the floor. :p Hit my knees really hard. (Had on shorts) skinned both of them   But, no bruises..Not even now. :) My INR was on the lower side...(2.3) a little low from normal. Thank goodness. Tweaked a tad and now back to 3.3 :) I think there is an INR Angel that looks after us Coumadin takers. :D :D Bonnie

Gee,
In that life you would be born with a bad valve and take warfarin for awhile. Then the heart would improve and you could stop the rat poison. Maybe your name would reverse too and you would be come an aging rock star!!

Bonnie,
Glad there were no serious consequences.
