Clint had successful AVR on April 21 Sends Thanks for Prayers
Dear Friends:
Thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes for my AVR on April 21, 2008.
Today is 30 days post op and I am doing well.
I am walking 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening.
I did have some problems after the surgery when my glucose fell to 30 and my creatinine was high. I did have two blood transfusions and I am still mildly anemic however to this point there have been no known problems with exacerbated AVM's.
When I returned from the hospital my medications were metatoprolol 25 mg 2 times a day, amiodarone 200 mg one time a day and then after about 10 days the amiodarone was ut to 100 mg once a day. I am also taking 10 mg of lisinopril one time a day.
My pulse has been regular at 56 TO 62 beats per minute and BP is averaging about 140/72.
The last few days I can feel my heartbeat more than initially but no flip flops or racing has been noted.
I took pain meds for first 2 weeks and now none. My med was Darvoset as I am not a fan of narcotics.
I appreciate having read many of the forum posts prior tothe surgery and I apologize that I did not get back with information sooner.
Thanks to all who were kind to pray and send well wishes. I did not feel real swell the first 21/2 weeks.
Tomorrow Iwill go to first session of cardiac rehab. I lost 15 pounds as food has not been very exciting. I consider that a bonus as I could lose another 15.
Take care and God Bless.
I am glad I am alive and appreciate life more today than on April 20th.
Kind Personal Regards,
Clint
