This past Saturday, June 4, almost a week after my sister got married (using 3 of my 5 MCs for her wedding processional), I finally got a chance to wash, wax & clean the interior of my '87 MC LS ... how much more sweeter it looks & drives clean! Will do that process at least twice more this year (since it is the daily driver) & then also find some time to clean each of the older 4 that way once this year....

Even with that good news, unfortunately, I'm still employable. It's been just over a month since I was let go from Sears. I've been on a few interviews here in the Chicagoland area...but have not received a second interview...yet. I've also been to a couple career fairs & networking as much as possible. So, no, I'm not pushing the panic button...but I'm getting close to that time. Not sure if that is good or bad....

With that in mind, I'm tentatively heading to Nashville TN for some interviews this coming Wednesday & Thursday (June 8 & 9) ... waiting to hear back from a couple companies first thing tomorrow morning, then I'll be headed out. If I end up in Nashville tomorrow night, I may meet up with some friends there ... & head to the Opryland Hotel where the Hot Rod Power Tour is supposed to be the evening of Tuesday, June 7. Course, if I do get to Nashville, I most-likely won't be checking Email or my message boards ... so I'll be absent for a bit. I hope to be back home late Thursday night or early Friday morning....& check back with ya'll then.... If you need to get in touch with me, I believe a few of you have my cell ph# ... so just yell & I'm sure someone will help you get in touch with me.

Also plan to schedule some time to go to Charlotte NC for job interviews.... Not sure yet how all of these events will affect my attendance at the MC Nationals (Decatur IL), Monte Madness (DE), and Carlisle GM Nationals (PA) this month ... or, for that matter, the rest of my summer/fall schedule....

I'll try to remember to send a note about my health situation (had a checkup May 19) sometime soon.... In general, all is well, but the pacemaker is fading quicker than expected :(.

Just want to wish you the best of luck on your job search and to say drive carefully with your babygirl to Nashville and back. I am sorry to hear that your pacemaker is fading fast but, at least when you get a new one, you will be raring to go...and go...and go... You Energizer Bunny you..LOL LOL. Anyway, have a good trip, and come back to us safe and sound. Harrybaby :D :D :D :D

Cort, best of luck with your interviews. Hope you have a great trip. Wave at us here in KY as you drive by. Take care (of the baby girls).

*chuckles and grins sheepishly*

Actually, I'm renting a car. Why? I think A/C would be a good thing. Dumb me forgot to have my mechanic friends fix the A/C on the '87 MC LS when I had it in for routine maintenance a couple weeks ago or so. Ah, well. Probably a good thing I'm renting ... at least this way I won't be nervous about the interviews AND my car ;).

Thanks, Harry! I sure will have a good time ... and remain the energizer bunny that I am ;). As for the pacemaker, I'm a bit saddened by it ... but it is something I was more or less expecting :(.

Wise, thank you :). I'll wave as I head past ya'll. I'm going to go I-57 S to I-24 E ... figured that'd be better than fighting Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville traffic on the way down ;).

Outta here for now ... will see ya'll "on the flip side" ;).

Best of luck on those interviews, Cort. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I've been keeping my eye open for positions at our local newspaper but haven't seen anything fulltime yet. Too bad you aren't going to be going through Evansville on the way back; I'd treat you to lunch. :)

Thank you ... and I appreciate you looking for me!!!

*raises eyebrow slightly*

Ya know...I wasn't going to check in here again tonight, but kind of glad I did. I'll give it some thought. I think, though, that'd it'd be dinner ... because I'll be leaving Nashville sometime early Thursday afternoon ... at least, that's the plan as of now.

I can't remember if you have my cell ph# or not .... I believe I did give it to you, so give me a call. If you don't have it, several people here do have it and I'm sure someone can PM it to you....

Alrighty?

OK.

NOW...I'm outta here. Really.

I tuned in late - so, if you get a job down there, you moving? Good luck. Glad you are renting - no point in putting the babies in harm's way. Be safe.

just a thought

Hi Cort. I know you're already gone out of town, but I was wondering......since you love your cars so, would it be possible to find a job helping to organize some of these meets? I suspect that most of it is volunteer, and I don't know exactly what your career has involved, but networking through people who love what you love might be advantageous to finding a new place of work.

Anyway, wishing you the best of luck on your current effort.

:) Marguerite

Cort, I don't believe you'll be reading this, but I just wanted to let you know I'm PMing you my cell in hopes that you'll read your e-mail.

But...does anyone out there have his who could PM it to me? He says several of you do and could send it. Thanks 'cause I'd like to take my favorite (actually my only :D ) MC buddy out to dinner.

Hi Cort, when you return.. would you mind letting me know what type of work you do? I too spent a couple of years searching a full time decent paying job after moving back home to PA from Dallas TX.. with that being said.. I have contacts in Chicago as well as nationwide.. I'm in A/R and have worked for companies which have sites nationwide along with vendors I have called on and currently call on now.. take care

Cort.
Best of luck on the interviews. I'm sure the right thing will pop up before you know it. We're pulling for you.

*sighs*

So much message boards/emails to catch up with, so little time.... I'm sure I'll catch up with all the posts in time...hope everyone knows that I think about ya'll and keep ya'll in my thoughts/prayers, regardless of whether I post in each thread or not....

With that written, a few replies:

Yep...I'll be moving...if I get a job, of course ;).

Thanks for the card!

Unfortunately, no. As you suspect, it is volunteer ... none of the clubs of which I am a part pay anyone to do anything ... all of it is volunteer. And, yes, I'm networking as much as I possibly can. Had hoped to do some of that this weekend at the MC Nationals 4 hours south of here (Decatur IL), but had to cancel those (and a few other) plans....

*sighs*

Welp, my BA degree is in Communication Studies (TV/radio) and Journalism (newspapers, etc.), but the last 8 years or so have been spent at Sears in various Customer Service positions. Sadly, I don't have a couple years to find another job ... more like a couple weeks :(.

Hmmm....sounds intriguing to me ... let me know if you know of anyone hiring in the Nashville/Jackson TN areas or the Charlotte NC area....or, for that matter, Chicagoland ;). Thanks!

Sure hope you are right on this one ... it is getting hard realizing I have 2 weeks left of the severance package...and then it gets rougher. This is part of the reason I've had to cancel several of my plans :(.

Course, I've been waiting for another type of "right" for a while now...he he he.

*grins devilishly*
