My son, Chuck, went along with me to the reunion which was at a very nice hotel in Orlando. Two 72 y.o. men, the Judge and another gentleman invited him to golf with them on Saturday. He accepted and was to meet them at breakfast before they went - when he met them, he was on time, but found they had already eaten so he missed breakfast. They played 18 holes - so he missed lunch. The Judge brought Chuck and the other fella back to the hotel, dropped them off and he went back and played 9 more holes by himself. Nearly killed and starved Chuck. Chuck grabbed some very late lunch, fell asleep til banquet time. We had about 72 72 y.o. class members and their spouses or significant others in attendance. One came from a foreign country to be there and all points of the U.S. were represented. Our class was at least 600 strong way back when and some of them are still going strong, holding jobs, professional people, all sorts of careers, etc. The judge met me nearly at the door when we got there, whisked me off, with Chuck's surprise and reluctant permission, to his room. We played two very rousing games (of Scrabble). We tied one and he soundly trounced me in the second game. Then he politely hugged me and delivered me right back to Chuck.
We wore our grad pic on a chain around our neck and the hardest part of the reunion was balancing that picture with the face above it. I didn't recognize anybody. I did find one of our members who had not changed a whit, except she was now at least 5 yrs older. We all caught up with who is where, who is gone, who is going. We all had great fun. It might be the last one we have, so I am glad I went. It was one of those 'I wouldn't haved missed it for the world' times.

uh - And Ross, I am telling it almost straight!

p.s. Chuck invented a new drink during Happy Hour. It is called Redneck Martini. The way to make it?

Take one beer, pour it into glass and

add an olive!

Sounds like you had a blast!

Sounds like you had a blast!

I'm on the committee planning our 30 year reunion for next summer. At this point we're trying to locate our 500+ classmates.

I like the idea of the buttons, one classmate had an interesting suggestion regarding them. He said to hand the buttons out randomly and have everyone find the person on the button that they were given! Doesn't that sound like a hoot? I'm not really sure if it would work with a class that size though...we'd spend all night just trying to find ourselves

Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time. Any suggestions as to how to make ours a success??

that ought to be a lot of fun. I would never have found even one of my classmates that way. It was funny even with us wearing our own face around our neck. When one would walk up to another, they immediately bent down to look at the face/name on the tag - next time we saw them, we did the same thing!

I took lots of pictures and when they are developed, I won't have any idea who they are. We didn't have enough time to get to know each other again to remember the faces when we get the pictures back. But boy have I got pictures - of :p  :D strangers!
