Hi guys

Been a while since Ive visited the site and see a number of new "faces".

Still active - although not as much as last year due to working away a lot more which disrupts the schedule.

Did the City to Surf race again this year on the weekend just passed. Pretty slow in the overall scheme of things at 75mins for the 12km run. have to 'fess up though and admit to doing no preparation for running. Well my training consisted of about 5 runs of 5km over the last three months. So as I sit here and write this my quads are hurting more than they have for a long time - just desserts I hear you all say....and rightly so too!

So much for the initial aim from last year to try and crack the 60 minute mark. Running no longer seems to suit me for whatever reason and I no longer seem to enjoy it as I did as a young fella.

FYI - The race winner covered the distance in just a tad over 35 mins! Amazing.

Onto the next project though and that is to try and finish what we didnt get to complete last year in the Rottnest Channel Swim. So we should begin training for that in earnest pretty soon (as well as get a boat that will make the distance!!!)

regards

Russell

Hi Russell

Good to hear from you. I've been doing some of what you've been up to - revisiting some prior conquests w/o quite the preparation of the earlier attempts. I've had some poor and painful experiences this summer! Guess I needed them to teach me a lesson.

I was really intrigued by your description of Rottnest last year - looking forward to the report.

Regards

Hi Russell,
Long time no read.

The important thing is - did you have fun? Everyone needs to take a bit of a break once in a while and just relax. And of course my favorite saying - I hate when work interferes with my day!

Looking forward to hearing about the swim.

Still, it's good to know you can just go out there with very little training and complete the race without any ill effects in a decent time......(especially throwing in a little surgery on the side)

Laura - I dont know about any ill effects. I was hobbling around like an old man for the last two days.

Mntbiker : I see from your posts you have done really well on the recovery trail. Congrats. I look forward to reading of your biking conquests!
