I have a St Judes mitral valve fitted 14 years ago. I have had very little problems since, my INR is always stable and I self test. I am taking Warfaran and was taking Candestartan, but recently my new Specialist changed the Candestarton to Cilazapril. The Cilazapril is unfortunately causing shortness of breath, dry cough and head ache. The reason given for the change is to improve my Left Ventricle ejection fraction, which is always between 40 and 43 %. He has reduced the dose but the symptoms still remain although not as noticeable as it was.
Has anyone else had issues with this Ace Inhibitor ? and do we know why it should be better than Candestarton ?
Cheers

my neighbor had a heart attack and was on ACE medications for a year. The entire time she had a persistent dry cough and trouble sleeping because of that. It was running her ragged. I suggested she insist on a medication change, but being elderly didn't face up to the Dr as she should have done.

Now that she's off it the cough has gone...
