We were up at Southampton today for Chloe's checkup.
It's been 10 months since her last one so I was VERY nervous about what they might find - clots or tissue growth on her mechanical valve for example. BUT it was all fine. Saw a reg. then asked to see the consultant, Dr Keeton as he gives it straight and doesnt mess around, so when he says she's doing ok i know its true. He was really pleased with her, said she still has the minor leak at one corner of her mitral replacement which has been there since surgery but it is no different and nor is her mild tricuspid leak.
The valve is 'in well and not wiggling around at all' lol - glad to hear that!
He said her heart function is very good and there is no sign there is anything on the valve as it's opening and closing well.
They are keeping an eye on her left ventricle as its the larger side of normal, but its still the same which is fine. I asked about upping her enalapril as she is on a teeny dose and she's grown a bit so they want her on the ward to up that at some point soon just for the day but thats no big deal as far as I'm concerned.
They checked her BP and SATS - all good and she had the normal echo, ecg and x-ray - again, all showed no deterioration at all and Dr Keeton said she's the best he's ever seen her and has high hopes with the size valve that she's got, her surgeon may well have avoided the need for any furture surgeries for her! They don't want her back for a year in clinic now so YAY!! Longest we've ever been given (or are likely to be either). So we are very happy people. Never actually seen this consultant smile quite so much!
Thanks for your thoughts everyone - they are very much appreciated!! Mary, seems your crystal ball was right!
