Hey everyone!

Anyone here from the Chicago area? Trying to get a group of CHD people from the Chicago Area to have a social get together to talk about CHD related issues, concerns and just to be able to hang out with people like yourself. If any of you know of ACHA (Adult Congenital Heart Association), I am trying to get people from that group also. Welcome and I'm glad you brought this up. There are many of us from the Chicago, Illinois and Wisconsin area who have become good heart buddies over the past few years. We have had a few very fun "mini-reunions" as well, although summertime is the busiest for most of us, so we don't get together too often during the "off-season."

Hopefully the other Chicagoland members will log their comments soon.

I don't know of any ACHA locally. I tried the Mended Hearts group for awhile, but found very few valve replacees, only bypassers. VR.com is by far the best!

Keep in touch and hopefully we'll get to meet soon.

Hi, Danielle - I'm from Springfield (regardless of what the governor thinks, it's still here and it's still the capital). Have attended one of the Chicago mini-reunions last fall - it was great fun. Our biggest problem is getting a good weekend - I think that after we've had surgery we all feeel so much better that we're busier than we've been for years. So we don't get them scheduled too often. Chicago is well-represented on this website.

Yes I am another of the Chicago NW suburb area members. Right now I'm busy with co-ordinating exams for the law school, so I haven't been online much. Hopefully another get together won't be before then. WOuld love to get together again and meet more new heart buddies .

Trying to shoot for May 14th or 28th for a get together. Let me know which date is better for you, May 28th is more likely since May14th is already next weekend. If you really are interested, please email me with day and time that is good for you, will probably have dinner at a restaurant in Schaumburg (since Schaumburg has so many restaurants!) as far as time, I was thinking around 7ish. Email me at [email protected] and if you could include your telephone # in the email so that I can give you the details 'in person'.

I can't believe how busy this summer is for us. I'm going to Florida with a few girlfriends next week. Then I'm back for a week and we go to Paris - Paris, France, not Paris, Kentucky - woo hoo! Then we start our neice's wedding festivities which culminate with the big event in August. But if everyone else arrives at a date, let me know. Maybe I can work it in! I'd love to, since our Paris trip has caused me to be frugal and say the VR reunion in Colorado won't be in the cards for me this year.

Okay, I found a few restaurants in Schaumburg that everyone would probably like. I choose mostly Italian restaurants since most people like Italian. If you don't like Italian then...too bad . We have... Bennigans, Maccaroni Grill, Olive Garden, Maggianos, Garibaldi's, and Unos...Let me know what sounds good to you and we'll choose the one that most people like. Or if you know of any other good restaurants and would really really like to go there, let me know. From the places that I have eatten at, I would reccomend Maccaroni Grill, Maggianos or Unos.

Also, I got an email from Kent (member of ACHA), and he would not be able to make it if it was on the 14th, so I think we will go with the 28th. But now I see that Melissa will only be here on the 14th, and Gina can only make it in June...hmmm well what we could do is have a get together on the 28th and then we could plan another get together way way in advance, like some time in the fall, that way there will be less conflicts with everyone's schedules and everyone can make it

I should also post on here too, Kent attended the ACHA conference a few weekends ago and can tell us all about it when we meet.

Once we all pick a restaurant, then please email me to let me know if you will be able to make it and in the email leave me your phone # so I can call you and let you know the details(ie, time) and directions to the restaurant if you need them.
