Could a small bout of CHF with ascites cause a higher than normal INR? I'm thinking some liver congestion could throw it off, but I'm not sure.

Joe's has been running about 4.3, in spite of a reduction in dosage. His CHF isn't terrible, 4-5 pounds at most over about a week and a half, but enough to cause some SOB and noticeable ascites.

He went on a small dose of Zaroxolyn this morning along with his Lasix, and will take it again tomorrow morning.

Liver congestion can certainly throw things off when it comes to INR. Mine has jumped around alot due to congestion. One month the INR was 7, the next month it was around 4 and last month it was over 5.

Liver congestion and CHF are some of the most frequent causes of elevated INRs in people over 65.

If you are having trouble breathing, you are almost certainly having trouble metabolizing warfarin.
