Hi everyone,

I am writing about a problem I am having. A few weeks ago I had an episode where I was having intense pain right in the center of my chest. It was a sharp pain that was constant for about ten or fifteen minutes before subsiding. It kept coming and going for the next hour or so. It sort of felt like a trapped gas bubble in my chest or something. I burped a couple of times and it seemed to help some but it really scared me. Well, today I was at my office typing and the pain came again. This time Jeff made me go to the ER. They did a Lung CT, EKG, blood tests, chest x-ray, all of which came back ok. The one blood test was to check the hear enzimes or something. Now they want me to have a stress test and an echo. Given what Jeff has been through the past year I am really freaking out. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on with me?

I have been getting winded easily lately and my doctor was testing to see if I may have asthma. I have an inhaler which seems to help when I use it. My doctor said that the symptoms could also be stress induced. I am a very anxious person and have been under a lot of stress lately so that makes sense.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michelle

Me thinks you suffer Indigestion. Do you have a lot of heartburn lately? This is what I think, but of course with anything of this type, you did the right thing by being checked out.

Hi Michelle,
Firstly, good that you get it checked out. Not knowing what is going on is terrible stressful. You are not alone, there are a lot of anxous people. Me included. Mind over matter just does not seem to work with me.
When ever you feel bad, pain or just worried sick go and see a doctor. Live turns into such a drag worrying about something which might not even be there. Anyway check everything out. I think it is stress and your body just shows you that you had enough.
Take care

Good girl to get it checked out. There are many things that can cause chest pain. Indigestion, gall bladder, gastric reflux, stress, to name a few. It's always good to rule out cardiac causes.

Chest pains should always be checked out thoroughly.

I had a similar situation several years ago. Awful stabbing pain right in the middle of my chest radiating through to my back and I had several episodes of it. It was misdiagnosed as a heart attack or some kind of heart problem, even though heart enzymes were OK. I even spent three days in the cardiac care unit.

I also had a treadmill stress test which I finished completely with no problemos.

It turned out to be gallstones and I had surgery to remove the gallbladder.

Don't know if this is the case with you, but it could be many things. So I'm glad your doctor is pursuing all avenues.

Thanks Everyone!!

Thanks Everyone!!

Thank you all for your responses. I have a feeling stress is my biggest problem. My mother-in-law has babysat for my kids ever since they were born and recently she started working a differeent job and is no longer able to babysit like she did before. I only have a babysitter for two hours a week. This has put a tremendous amount of stress on me. Financially, we are not in the position to pay a couple hundred dollars a week for child care. Plus being the always paranoid person I am, I won't let just anybody watch my kids. So that leaves me. Sometimes it just seems a little overwhelming. I love my kids but they can certainly take a tole on your nerves.

Thanks again for all the support!

Hi Pam!

Hi Pam!

Pam
Jeff is being good to me today. I got something I have wanted for a long time! He got me a dachshund puppy! He is the cutest thing I have ever seen. I have been feeling down lately and he wanted to really cheer me up. We really don't need another animal in the house but he knew how happy it would make me :D The puppy is four and half months old and his name is Manny. He is a miniature dachshund so he will weigh less than ten pounds full grown. He just loves to play with our other dogs and cat. The one dog is a lab/shepard mix and the other is a terrier/cocker mix, but he looks like a long haired dachshund only bigger. The puppy was just what I needed to make this a very happy day.

Hi Pam and Michelle,

First of all, I just wanted to chime in that I used to have panic attacks (still have anxiety issues but they are under control). The symptoms of the panic attacks manifasted themselves in such a way that I was convinced I was having a heart attack. Anxiety can do some weird things to you.

But on to more cheerful things. Pam I got a chuckle out of how you call your hubby "my little clicker". :)

And Michelle I hope you're feeling better. I can't think of a better way to relieve stress than with puppy kisses. My grandmother had a dachshund and although I've never owned one I have always had a soft spot in my heart for them (although most pups do that to me :D).

Take care!

Stress of others' illness can cause problems for the cartake or family member. Just be sure to go through the stress test and echo. Just be on the safe side because you know that the pains are not normal and you are having problems with breathing and fatgiue. Good luck and keep us updated.
