ABC News discovered that tires, like food, have an expiration date. After a certain age tires become dangerous to use.

Good video story there. I guess its probably a good idea to buy the most popular brand of tyres as they would be the newest in the store.

My car is going in for new tyres this week and I wanted to get the cheaper option because I hardly ever drive the car but hubby is insisting we buy the shops own brand which are highly promoted. For the sake of an extra $100 I am going to give in now and get the better ones.

I always thought that tyres that peeled like the ones in the video were re-treads? I knew that rubber got brittle as it aged and thought that was what the problem would be.

When I was working, I had to send tires back all the time and replace with new ones. They're out there people. Pay attention when buying.
