Hi

when I came to Finland I brought my warfarin with me (just because I wanted to give myself time to see where and how I could source it here). This marks a week into the new supply. The 'brand' I use is Marevan and that is actually the only brand available here.

The tablets look "different" but follow the same conformation of colour code and dosage values. The bottle looks a little different too. All in all I expect they were manufactured in totally different places (one set being bought 14,000Km away from the other).

I took extra INR readings (separated by 2 or 3 days each .. just because) and between starting and now; the result is indistinguishable from my normal 'variance'.
INR
2.7
2.5
2.8 <- changed on this reading
2.4
2.5

seems to be 'steady as she goes' to me.

I report this for anyone else who travels and wonders what effect supply variations may have on their dose regime. In my case nothing observable...

Those of us who take generics may also be changing manufacturers without giving it much thought. Your pharmacy may use (or switch) sources without informing you. Perhaps a person changes pharmacies, and the new pharmacy has a different supplier.

What SHOULD matter is that the manufacturers conform to the color coding / strength standard. I can't imagine that many pharmaceutical companies would have any appetite for the consequences of mislabeling their products.
