A long time ago (maybe last October) the notion of taking an 800 mile trip with all our children (5), a SIL, and a granddaughter sounded like the most pleasant thing we could ever want do. We use to take family vacations like that and we always had a Swell time!

Today, as I'm trying to pack and deal with my "children" I realize that old age has set in and I am/was/forever will be certifiably nuts! Now I remember why we haven't taken one of these jaunts in over 15 years!

So please, everyone wish us luck. We'll be in Panama City Beach from June 3-10 in case any Florida members want to join in our nuttiness. Gadgetman is coming down, as is Hensylee, and hopefully Miss Granbonny Bon, so even if you don't want to meet me and my family, there are other VR members who will oblige! :p :p :p :p :D :D :D :D

Good night and good luck!;) ;)

Have a safe trip... I do miss the road trips my ex and I used to take.. enjoy yourselves - I have a motto: life is too short, go out and make some memories. go make some new memories with your family and vr friends.

Chris

You know (by phone calls, ect) I'm trying hard to meet yall in Panama City..just tied up with doctor's, tests, ect.....You are correct..in thinking one can make arrangements far off. but *&#$@ happens..:( :(   .. Just take care of Hailey ( your Granddaughter):D the others are old enought to take care of themselves.:p Bonnie

Hmmm...well, dear Mary, if you are certifiably crazy ... then I'm completely nuts ... because I LOVE road trips ;).

Course ... my road trips are "solo" ... in that I'm driving by myself ... but meeting up with friends/family all the way during the day and/or at night.

Have a FUN trip ... and relax and enjoy it!

Have a great time with Bubba. Be nice to him, okay. (Bubba, you be nice too).

Give Bonnie and Ann a big hug from me. I'm a fan of theirs.

You take care, enjoy yourself, and get back home in one piece. (But don't forget the two piece pics for Ross).

Mary, I know what you mean. Every year we take whoever can go of our three kids and Son and Daughter in laws and 9 grandkids to a cabin in Tenn.
This year we have rented 2 cabins but ours has a gameroom and all 5 granddaughters want to stay in our cabin. They are 16,14,11,8 and 6. We leave June 17th for 7 nights of fun. We do all the touristy things. This year I am taking a half day at the spa just for me. I have already let all of them know this. So, let me know how your trip turns out. I have survived the last 4years so hopefully I will survive this one.

Terry,
Yes I was certifiably crazy, but sometimes drastic measures are called for!:p :p :p :p
Our vacation, with the nine of us, was one of the best things we've done in years. It forced everyone to compromise and get along, and that's hard to come by with residual sibling rivalry (even at the ages of 32, 27, 25, 23, and 20) and a three year old tossed in to boot!
We spent one day snorkeling, and I found myself swimming with two of the boys. It was the first time for all three of us, and once when I came up, both Mike and Mark popped up and said, "Mom, this is the most fun we've ever had!" I was astounded that I was having so much fun with my grown children! It was definitely an American Express moment--priceless!
We tried parasailing too, but it wasn't nearly as much fun as snorkelling, and not nearly as adreneline producing as skydiving!:p :p :p :p
Yes, there were times early in the trip when I thought I would go crazy, but I chilled and let it sweep on past. I silently gave thanks that I was alive to share and enjoy the new lease on life that I've been given.
Here's Haley, our granddaughter

Mary, what a beautiful granddaughter. I am glad you all had so much fun. I know what you mean about sibling rivalry. My daughter is 33 and her brother is 37 and they had a falling out a few years ago and this is the first trip we have all taken together since then. But, they both agree that this has gone on long enough and that it is time to start getting along again. I pray they really mean it. My 5 granddaughters are so glad they get to be together for a whole week. My son lives in Tenn. and we hardly ever get to see the 3 girls.
They say they are getting me on the roller coaster and the go karts. I can hardly wait. I will post when I get back and let you know how it went.
