Hi All

I really need some feedback on this medication from those of you whom are taking it in combination with Coumadin.

Presently,I am very ill with Arthralgia. Which was triggered from a from viral arthritis. The infection is called human parvovirus B19. In children"fifths disease'. Yesterday was a tough day, fever, could not get out of bed. Fortunately today I pulled it together and made it to the doctor.

To my releif, I am no longer contagious and this will not effect my valve. The joys of having young children in the house.

Common therapy of this virus are NSAIDS, which Coumarians cannot take. Good friend my mine with Lupus told me the generic Celebrex was recalled? My doctor is recommending it to me. Do I a. take it for the pain and inflamation or b. live with it?

Thanks

Gina, just to be on the safe side, why not call your cardio if you have a new one in Chicago - if not, call the one back in Tenn.

I have been on Celebrex and at times it upsets my stomach as most NSAIDS do -I am not on coumadin so can't address that, but please take care and get more info. We don't want you getting sick (er). Hope you feel well soon. God bless

Sounds like a question for Al. I'd hate to say the wrong thing here. Sorry.

Children and bugs. Oh yes, what joy it is!

Hi, I have a read-out from merck-medco pharmacy on celebrex(celecoxib). It says it can affect MANY other drugs with coumadin being one of them. Doesn't necessary say for coumadin couldn't take with it, but says: you may not be able to take celebrex or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you take coumadin..Other conditions for red flagging are if you smoke, drink alcohol, have an ulcer, have liver disease, asthma, congestive heart failure, fluid retention, heart disease, high blood pressure, again taking anticoagulation meds,or steroid meds. Those have the same warning as above:you may not be able to take celebrex or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment. I personally would not call my cardio on this question of whether you can take it or not. my first opinion getter would be your pharmacist who knows what meds you are on. pharmacists know interactions with other meds much better than doctors do. that is their job! doctors get catered to by the drug reps that count every month how well those doctors wrote prescriptions for their company meds. pharmacists that i know of don't have that "pressure-selling" problem.Hope this helps
