My husband, John, had another INR test yesterday and it was FINALLY in range -- 2.0, at the cellar, but in range.

The nurse rightly assumed I had tinkered with his warfarin dosage, and John said yes, that two weeks ago I had bumped his dosage up to 7.5X7 (from their suggested 7.5X6 + (I think) 6mgX1).

The nurse said that if he has another 2 INRs in range, then he can go to testing once a month.

Because John is taking warfarin due to an arrhythmia related to his MV repair, I'm hoping we can get him off soon. He has his annual physical with our PCP and an appt with our cardiologist next month.

If we had depended on the dosing schedule that our PCP's practice uses, John would NOT have been in range. He did take a copy of Al Lodwick's dosing chart with him yesterday so they could see how I adjust dosages.

After all, you don't have to be a rocket scientist -- or even an RN, LVN, MD, OD, etc. -- to understand warfarin. Just smarter than the average bear!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! :D

SO, what was the reaction of the Nurse (and supervising Doctor) to being 'One Up'ed' by the more knowledgable patient's SPOUSE? ? ?

Have you and John been labeled "Non-Compliant" ?
