My wife and I are headed off now to the Salem Civic Center to see Carrie Underwood in concert tonight. I have been a fan of country music for most of my 65 years but this young gal, former American Idol, is absolutely the best! Relationship of this post to heart issues: Makes me want my fixed-up ticker to keep ticking many more years so I can enjoy great songs from Carrie yet to come!

Bob, I've chimed in on Carrie threads before, so why not again. We feel the same way about her music. She's definitely the most talented of the AI alumni and country music in general. However, I'm jealous that you get her to see her in concert. Should be a lot of fun.

Her last hit "Before He Cheats" just spent five weeks at #1 on Billboard's Country Singles chart. "Jesus Take The Wheel" ended a six week run at #1 last January. Her album "Some Hearts" has sold 4 million copies. She's the reigning Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year. She just won a few major awards at the Billboard Awards and she's up for atleast a couple grammies. Not bad for a blond, huh?

Bob, I remember your comments in the past on how much you like her music. I'm so glad you are able to go hear her in person. Give us a full report!

Carrie's Concert

All I can say is, if Carrie's tour ever comes to your town, treat yourself and go see her. She was absolutely sensational. Sang all her country hits, such as "Jesus, Take the Wheel," "Don't Forget to Remember Me," "Before He Cheats," and others on her "Some Hearts" album. Those were great, but she surprised by throwing in several folksy and '80s songs I didn't know were in her repertoire. We were the last stop on her 2006 tour before she takes her Christmas break and she held nothing back. Belted out one song after another for over an hour and a half. She has really gotten into a comfort zone doing these shows. Had good rapport with the audience.

Did my heart good! :)

Carrie is suppose to be on the OPRAH show today and sing Jesus Take the Wheel. I also love her. She is a good role model for my granddaughters who love all types of music. For Christmas the 16,14 and 11 year olds asked for Pop,Rap and Country cds.

*raises eyebrow*

What all 80s songs did she sing? ;)

I love "Jesus Take The Wheel" and "Before He Cheats".....

Course, she is easy on the eyes, too ;).

"We all have a song that somehow touched our lives" ... Kenney Chesney ... 'I Go Back'

Hi Cort,

According to the local reviewer, the two were Guns 'n' Roses "Patience" and "Sweet Child of Mine." Offbeat for a country singer, to be sure, but done as a change of pace by Carrie, it came off well. The rest of her tunes were mostly from her country album, "Some Hearts." She sang "Jesus, Take the Wheel" on Oprah today, and both the song and the interview were great.

Wow ... interesting 80s songs she chose. I thought she might've done some from country artists ... like Barbara Mandrell or Crystal Gayle, etc. But, hey ... I can only imagine the just she did to the tunes she did sing from the 80s :).

That video from "Before he cheats" is something else. Ouch! All men should see it and take heed! ;) LOL!!
