I am TRYING to do cardiac rehab, but am finding it hard to get there at least once a week. THis week, so far, I haven't gone at all. I'll try tomorrow. The problem is that my bowel and stomach flares make me so tired that all I can to do rest or sit on the potty (sorry for being so graphic), that I can't go. When I feel well enough to go I do great and love it.

Has anyone else had any other physical issues that are slowing their recoverys? I feel so guilty, like I should push harder, but I just don't feel like it. I also have lupus and I guess that is slowing me down.:(

Any words of comfort or advice? I was never an athlete, but I like being active.

Barbara:confused:

I had two wonderful nurses to oversee cardiac rehab; they were very helpful with all the questions I could think of then. Talk it over with your cardiac rehab people. I don't think eighteen sessions three times a week for six weeks (what I had) contains any magic numbers. I would think once a week is much the same.

Barbara, Make yourself go once a week with the idea that in time you will go twice a week and eventually three times a week. I remember that it was tough for me at first. ( I was 72 and feeling very old). However the nurses told me exercise is addictive and I can attest to this. After they discharged me from rehab at the hospital I felt compelled to go to the Fitness Center at my club and keep going. Still at it today and if I miss a day or two I begin to feel edgy and water logged. Let the nurses or your doctor map out a program for you. Later go to a good fitness club and find a sympathetic trainer and you'll be set.I know lupus can really depress you but I think a gentle exercise
regime would help . Let us know how it goes. Marty
