Hi all
One of the valves I may have (others are ATS and ON-X), the Carbomedic's valve seem's to be a good choice if you are prone to Pannus or are worried about this in the future. From what I have researched the sewing cuff is coated in Biolite carbon which is antithrombotic which prevents pannus and thrombus.
The other option is the ON-X which is also reported to have few (if any) incidents of Pannus.
I say this because my surgeon told me that the valve may depend on how it best fits to my situation when they open me up.. He said that all the valves are almost identical, any study online will always give a preference to one due to biased data or patient variation especially when young patients are matched with the elderly.
Anyone experienced pannus with a carbomedics valve in the aortic position?
