I've been unsatisfied with my old blender -- hard to clean, it doesn't to a good job, the gaskets seem to develop mold on them, etc., etc. I didn't really feel very safe making things with it. I didn't want to poison me or my wife with some rogue mold spores mixed in with our smoothies.
A few days ago, I saw a Vitamix at Costco. This thing doesn't expose anything that would harbor mold or other bad stuff. It pulverizes greens (which I don't like eating raw or cooked). It may actually be healthy to have stuff from it. But I'm a bit concerned with what it will do to my INR, if I'm consuming a lot of Vitamin K (but, as a self-tester, and INR manager, I'm well aware of the 'dose your diet' philosophy.)
For the first time in years, I was actually able to buy this monster, but still had second thoughts.
Here's where it may get a bit strange - or interesting. You be the judge.
I bought the Vitamix on Thursday. On Friday, I tested my INR. My InRatio said 4.9. Okay. I wasn't really concerned. The meter tests high, anyway, so I'm figuring that I'm maybe .5-.7 out of range. No big deal.
(My ProTime said 2.6 -- but it seems to be testing low with the current batch of strips). I'm guessing that I'm somewhere at the high end of my 2.5-3.5 range - or a bit above).
Now, a few days later, I get the revelation -- perhaps my INR tested high because I'm SUPPOSED to start adding greens to my diet. Perhaps I should keep this expensive machine, and try some of those green smoothies that a lot of people tout as energy drinks. If I like them, I'll just tweak my warfarin in order to adjust for the effects of the K in my greens.
Do any of you think this is a sign ('keep the damned machine - your INR is too high'), or am I reading a lot more into it than I should?
A crazy person wants to know.
