Surgery went well for Cameron, Dr. said it was a very bad valve. Time in OR was about four hours from start to finish. Kept him asleep until 1 am when he was awoken to have the breathing tube taken out. It went fine he stood up at that time. Today his other tubes were removed ,and he was on his feet in the morning to move to a chair to leave CICU. Spent the day dozing feeling a little discomfort but no major pain. Although he did say he felt he'd been hit by a truck. Tomorrow he'll probably be up for a walk around the room. More later...

Thank you so much for the great news!!! I bet you are feeling pretty relieved at this point, too!

Keep a watchful eye on things. He will not be totally "with it" mentally for awhile due to the major drugs he's gotten and is getting, so help him by being his voice if he needs one.

Otherwise, try to rest and relax yourself. The recovery should be surprisingly easy, considering what Cameron has been through. Hope it's really boring ;)!

Best wishes.

Marguerite

ahhhh I remember it well.
Take care of yourself and give Cameron our best wishes for an uneventful recovery.
One day at a time there big guy; be good to yourself.

Hello Cameron's wife,
Thank you so much for posting the update on Cameron. Please give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Cameron, you are now officially on the other side of the mountain. Godspeed.

Thanks for taking the time to update. Please give him our best wishes for a bump-free recovery.

Great news! That he stood up and sat down for his ride out of the ICU is amazing! The discomfort will ease with time, and he may even think, "Shouldn't this hurt more?!" ;-) Best of luck for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the update, Cameron's wife. that is good news, best wishes for a smooth and boring recovery. Now, you take care of yourself, I don't know how you "other halves" can stand up to the stress!

Being hit by a truck is an expression we use a lot around here, it seems we need that extra push to get over the mountain!

Great news--thanks for posting! It probably didn't seem that way to you, but four hours is a nice short surgery. YOU rest now, and best wishes to Cameron for a smooth recovery.

Thanks for letting us know that Cameron is doing so well. :)I am going to suggest that you make sure you get enough sleep while he's in the hospital, because once he's home, you probably won't.:(

I'm glad he got that bad valve fixed! It does seem that, more often than not, the valve is worse than the surgeon anticipates before they patient is opened. Wishing him a smooth recovery.
