Calling Canadians

The following appeared on a UK based forum I frequent. Any suggestions guys and gals and I'll pass them on.

'We head off to Canada (Ottawa) a week on Sunday. We need a full size people carrier as there will be 6 adults to shuttle around.

I'm looking for your help/ideas about reasonable priced car hire companies. I am aware it is best to book before you travel as in Canada they will hit us with mileage charges but at the mo having used a couple of 'search engines' the best I can find is the wrong side of £500

Any advise of good priced/reliable hire companies you have used/know about would be much appreciated

Okay, so I'm not in Ottawa, but here are some web sites of car rentals in Canada:

Took these names from the phone book. I think Budget is pretty good, seems to me I rented from them once and had no problems.

The airports usually have a decent deal to offer with their on site rental company.

I didn't think we had Alamo in Canada - thought that was only in the States.

I haven't compared prices or service myself, but at my previous job we were only authorized to use Budget or Thifty's. I assume our purchasing department did their due diligence when they approved them.

I'd try Enterprise - they usually have the best prices. Have a great time in our nations capital - so many great things to see and do. Enjoy!

Hey,

I would try Enterprises rental most of them have weekend discount rates and sometimes they provide deals if your renting for a week and plus they don't charge mileage..Remember don't forget to rent the GPS navigators there about $10 bucks a day. Good luck

Not a Canadian here, but we rented a car through http://www.priceline.com/rentalcars/default.asp?irefid=HPTRAV1216ICON&irefclickid=RC for pickup in Banff, Canada and got a fabulous price....less than half of what people were paying through car hire websites.
