California nano-reunion

Joan & Bob - the "Bionic Duo" stopped in last night for a few glasses of wine and some appetizers. They were in the general vicinity for a golf tournament that Bob plays in each year, so we took the opportunity to meet some fellow VR members.

We had a wonderful conversation and enjoyed getting to know them both. Every time we actually meet someone we first 'met' online here at VR, we have a great experience. It is always nice to put a voice and personality with the screen name and avatar!

Joan took some photos with her camera, so I'm sure she'll post 'proof' of the get-together as soon as they get home.

And Joan & Bob - thanks for the bottle of Concannon! You obviously know the ticket to MY heart!

And as a reminder for the rest of the VR community- we're right on the coast, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. If you're ever in the area, let us know and we'd love to meet you. The wine bar is always open, and the weather is usually very fine. Poor Joan and Bob missed the ocean view last night, unfortunately, as a heavy fog blew in late in the day. But we still enjoyed ourselves and I'm sure Bob is having a great time today, playing golf on a beautiful course in very nice, sunny weather.

Absofreekinlutely . This is _exactly_ why I always post about my roadtrips, etc. It is always very cool to meet people in person...sometimes, you find you have a heck of a lot more in common .

I'm glad you all had a wonderful meeting.

I doubt I'll get out to CA for a while...I was out there last year for a cousin's wedding along the Ventura beach...but, I'll definitely keep you all in mind .

We got in about 8:00 or so last night, I haven't had a chance to download the pics yet. It was really nice finally meeting another VR.comer---an the wine was fantastic.

I guess Bob got some sunshine when he played Blacklake in Nipomo, but wasn't so lucky at Avila Beach--the sun came out just about the time they were finishing up

This was the first time we stayed at the Kon-Tiki (I usually wait until to late to get a room there) and its fantastic--its right on the beach and I took a couple of really good walks and my new knee loved it--I hope Bob wants to come down again next year.

You going to be out near Stockton again--we don't live very far from there so if you want to go wine tasting give us a holler--there are some really good wineries right near us in Livermore CA.

Hey Joan!

We'll be in Stockton October 27th. But I'm not sure how much 'play' time we'll have. We're going out to help move our oldest son back to Colorado. He has more cars than he does drivers. lol He's starting work here on Nov. 1st... so he's cutting himself a little short on time. He didnt' have to... but he wanted to give his company as much of his time as he could before he had to leave. I guess that's one of the reasons they love him.

But if we do get the chance to go wine tasting... I'll give you a call!! We had a really good time doing that last time we were out there... and ended up shipping a few cases home! AND became a member of a club even!! lol It was a really good time and very beautiful vineyards! There's a vineyard right behind Eric's house!!

I'll let you know!

Hey Joan,

Will do!! We had a great time wine tasting in Napa Valley last June. We?re a little short on time this trip, so I?m not sure how it will all turn out.

Bill, it?s Jewel. It?s a place down closer to where Eric lives. He?s a member of their club. When we were there it was Father?s Day.... it sorta turned out to be a Father?s day gift from him.

Joan... I loved the pictures!! Thanks for sharing. I met ?Sierra Bob? here in Cortez this summer and can?t believe I didn?t take a picture!! I won?t make that mistake again!!

I?m gonna take a ?Mutt & Jeff? picture of Ryan and Cort at the reunion. I have one I just love of Hi-Rain and Lo-Rain too.

Hope you get a little time away for wine tasting--you'll find Livermore friendlier than Napa (and cheaper).

Hopefully one of these days we'll make it though to Colorado--can't make the reunion next month as we will be in Hawaii celebrating our 40th aniversary!! Maybe when you have the next reunion in Chicago we'll hop on the California Zephyr--it starts in Emeryvill CA and goes all the way to Chicago, with I believe a stop in Denver.
