For awhile now I have been getting light brownish bruising on my feet and ankles. It comes and goes so I have not gone to the doctor. My left foot sometimes hurts for a short while and then just kinds burns. I do have Neuropathy so sometimes it is hard to distinguish between the two different pains. This morning I have the same bruising on my hands, Left hand bruise is in the middle of the top of my hand and the right hand bruise is on the lower area of my thumb and around just before my middle finger. My INR is only 3.3 as of yesterday and usually runs in from 2.5 to 3.9 no big deal. Does this sound like it could be INR related? I do have an appointment with my Cardio on April 20 and thought I would ask her. When ever I go to my PCP he just shurgs his shoulders and says I don't now, you are a hard one to figurer out. I know I must change PCP but he is the one I got to give a prescription of my INRatio, so I haven't changed. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Jackie:

I often pop blood vessels or cause a bruise in my fingers and hands. I never know what has prompted the spot, and I usually have some pain or discomfort. Most of the time, it's on the inside of my hand, at the joints of fingers. So I figure that I've just popped something.
I get a slight bruise, then brown discoloration. It's gone within 2 days at the most.
I haven't had any in awhile.

You may want to journal these and record what your INR was each time. Not that your INR is involved, but in case a doctor asks you.

Joe used to get spontaneous bruising and when that happened, it was because his platelets were low. So I would suggest that you have a complete blood count done.

Thank you, I will ask about a complete blood count,. These are turning into big patches of lite colored bruises. I just got home from Yoga and I really think they are worse.

I did call my PCP and he ordered some blood work, and made an appointment for Monday. I know he is going to blame it on Coumadin, he reminded me that I was on Coumadin which causes bleeding. We will see????
