I have a swollen bruise on my forehead about the size of a quarter. I was talking on the phone and I leaned my head on my hand and felt the bump. It does not hurt and I don't remember hitting my head.
I have had black and blue bruising on my legs and thighs but never a bump. I put ice on it.
I am sure it has to do with taking coumadin. My coumadin was 2.0 last time it was checked( last week). They left the dosage the same. My range is 2.0 -3.0.
Is this anything to worry about? I am dealing with so much right now I think I am getting paranoid.

It would be important to know your INR now. If your becoming more black and blue or that thing enlarges any further, better get it looked at.

Praline,

The nature of the skin over the forehead (and scalp for that matter) is such that blood cannot seep into deeper tissues as it can elsewhere such as your legs and thighs. Hence, instead of getting a flat “black & blue” mark with blood deeper beneath the surface, you get the typical “goose egg”.
I would be concerned about two things. First your INR as to why you bruise. Second, What did you do to bruise your forehead without having any recollection of it? I doubt that you have any worries about neurological damage, but if there are problems of mentation, lethargy, inability to move extremities or be awakened, or headache, then seek medical evaluation.

I dont have any clue as to why it wouldve come up Praline but Chloe gets bumps all the time as well as her bruises, especially if she gets them on her head.

Is it getting any bigger or spreading out at all?? If so, I would get it checked for peace of mind.

Could you have bumped it in the night somehow? Headboard or something???

Hope it goes down soon!

You might also get a complete blood count especially to check for your platelet count. Joe gets many unwarranted bruises when his platelets are out of whack. And his being on Coumadin just makes them bleed under the skin.

Hi Praline, hope you are doing OK. I also would suggest that you get your INR checked, just to be sure it isn't out of whack.

Still sending you positive thoughts.:)
