I have a question for someone with more knowldege on this subject. Who does this, the Cardiologist or the surgeon. I see the surgeon Wed. for the incisional hernia and I think this will have to be fixed. I do not feel comfortable going off the coumadin like when I had the staples removed. What exactly is Lovenox and can this be done at home? I understand the surgery would be out patient so this could be an option. I do not want to take any chances with a clot. Thanks,

You shouldn't need to come off of the Coumadin for that surgery. It's not that big of a deal.

Lovenox is low molecular weight heparin and can be given at home, but it is very expensive. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it's like $100 a dose x2 a day.

I'd talk to both of them, mainly the surgeon, because a hernia repair is not much of a bleeding episode. See what he/they say.

Thanks,

Thanks,

That made me feel better. It seems that when you have a mechanical everything gets so complicated. I will talk to the surgeon about it and get a hold of the cardiologist. I have so many scars at this point, that one more won't make a difference. As soon as I get the camera and computer figured out, I will need some help with getting a picture. What a difference with this new one.

Will you keep us posted on this? When you were describing the thing on another thread, it sounded a bit like a poofy area I have right below my scar in one area. I see my cardiologist mid-August and I'll ask him about it too. Hope it all goes extremely well for you.
