Hi Celia,
I'm the member that Hensley was talking about I think... at least she did email me to ask me about this.
There are several at WebMD, along with chat rooms on certain nights.
Another good site can be found at
www.cancer.org. This is the American Cancer Society site and there is a community bulletin board where you can post.
I had a mastectomy in May 01. It was a small mass, only 2 cm., but my heart surgery the previous October 00 and then a diagnosis of Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia in January, 01 made the cure a little tougher for me. But I am happy to say that I am now cancer free and had breast reconstruction last year.
If you call the American Cancer Society, they have many programs for women with breast cancer. I volunteer for Reach to Recovery, a program that puts survivors and those newly diagnosed in contact. They also have a wonderful program, Look Good, Feel Better, that brings women going through radiation/chemo together for a day of beauty tips and they also offer free wigs to women who have lost their hair.
You can contact them in person for an office near you at 1-800-ACS-2345.
Hope this helps.
Take care,
Zazzy
P.S. We are always looking for volunteers... though you have to be a year out of treatment to do Reach to Recovery.
