its a rat study, but the valves were pericardial tissue valves and crestor had a profound effect on preserving the integrity of them. This is significant because we just dont have much human research in this area.

Interesting. They used rosuvastatin but implied that any statin given for hyperlipidemia is expected to have a similar effect. That is good to know, and I wonder if it has been factored into the lifespan projections for the pericardial valves. I would guess that a higher percentage of patients now take statins than was the case 12-15 years ago, when some of the previous studies on valve lives were done.
