Since the surgery in February my blood pressure keeps going up. The cardio just increased my Cardizem to 300 mg a day. Before the surgery with only taking atenenol at 50 mg. a day, it stayed around 130/70. Now with the increase in Cardizem, it was 156/91 this morning. I have been taking it everyday either at home or getting it taken somewhere else and it has never gotten in the normal/low range. Could it be that the new valve is working better or that something else is going on? I am also on Lanoxin and Coumadin. I am getting kind of concerned because I am afraid that it could damage the new valve. I really thought that once the valve was replaced I wouldn't have to take a whole lot of medicince but the Cardio told me that the atrium as stretched from the old valve and that will never correct itself and that is why I have to stay on the medicine. I have to keep getting my blood pressure taken and then fax them to the Doc. Anyone have any answers? Thanks,

That's a hard one. It could be your kidneys, medications, diet, just about anything. I really couldn't even venture a guess.
