Have been having problems with bleeding in both eyes (one at a time). My eye doctor has given me some prescription eye drops and said that it was caused by a reaction to the warfarin. It clears up in a couple of weeks and causes no vision problems. Anybody here have the same thing?

Thanks.

Joe had that a couple of times. His Coumadin level was OK when they happened, so it wasn't that. I believe it's pretty common. It was bleeding into the white of the eye. It's really a small amount of blood, but it gets squeezed flat between the membranes and spreads, giving that horrible red look. Kind of scary looking. Joe's cleared up in about 2 weeks. Did not affect his vision at all.

This is a copy from a previous post:

"the white of the eye from the pupil to the nose and under the lower lid was bloodshot. It all cleared completely on three weeks. Previous similar eye conditions cleared in about 10 days. My cardiologist said mine was due to coughing although I have no recollection of any severe coughing spells."

I have had maybe three episodes in the 3 years since ny valve replacement.

That is weird!!...but the thing is, there is some weird stuff that happens.........first of all, we tend to not tell our docs "strange" things cos it's NOT "strange"!!!!.......lol...You don't notice it until you talk to ANOTHER person....(ie..my hand ITCHED all the time.. blah blah)...Oh YEA...that happened to me TOO!!!! (see, I was always told that i was coming into MONEY if my palm itched.....lol!!!)...I was never taught "if your palm itches you could be having symptoms from anemia, there could be a bilirubin problem that we need to address.......blah blah..and more to come.." :)

thanks

thanks

Hey guys - just wanted to say thanks for the replies - especially Geebee... The last couple of my bloody eyes have lasted a couple of weeks - the eye drops (Alrex) help to encourage healing. Seems there are these things called Macrophages (sp?) that come out and eat up the blood. These Macros are slow buggers and take a while to get the job done. I live in Denver and the altitude and the dryness may have something to do with it too. Thanks again.

If it happens today, you will know that dryness ain't got nuttin' to do wid it.

Yep - kind of wet and snowy along the front range of Colorado today. But then if it gets colder will have to crank up the furnace tonight...

My eye did that today - i'm not the heart patient though, my daughter is. I get it every so often and it itches a bit when it happens but soon clears up.
