I'm wondering how many vr.com members venture out into the shopping throngs on this day after Thanksgiving. Personally, I'd rather have a tooth extracted than join the frenzy, but my wife is about to drag me out to at least the fringes of it. I am hoping for a speedy return, Wish me luck. :p

heck no

heck no

I have to agree with you....except about the tooth extracting part. I just can't stand the rude...stupid people out there(I am not implying that if you guys did go out there that you are rude and stupid)....might have something to do with me not being a morning person.....any how RobHol...hope you make it back soon and don't run into those rude and stupid people out there !!!

So can anyone post what kinds of bargins they got?

I am staying far far away from the stores today!!

I will do my shoppoing at the last minute like always. Or do it online.

My sister waits all year to shop today. I never go near shopping places today. I am claustrophobic so crowds and I do not get along.

I will willingly pay much more to avoid crowds.

Avoiding the malls

Avoiding the malls

I agree with y'all, but I have to credit my wife with following a smart strategy today. Instead of plunging directly into the malls, we stayed on the outskirts -- getting some supplies at a hardware store, doing some relaxed shopping at a bookstore (personally my favorite place to shop, with a skim latte in hand). and finally a fabric shop with 60 percent discounts to stock up on Christmas decorations. And we ate lunch at a sports bar! So though Grinch I be, I have to admit: I HAD FUN! :D

You couldn't pay me enough to have ventured out today. I've been there and done that and it isn't fun. Maybe when I was healthier and younger but not now, besides I was so tired from Thanksgiving. I also don't like the pushing and shoving. I like to take my time when I shop. Rob bless you for venturing out with your wife today.

Credit/Debit card-check Account balance -$15,000, oh well I can dream!
Computer-check
Internet connection-check

I'll do my shopping from home thank you!

My hubby ventured out this morning at about 6:00. I thought it was a scream - Mr. I'll-Do-Anything-For-A-Bargain!!!!:D :D :D

Not this girl. Stayed in bed until 9:00 and my cat got me up.

Our local radio station was reporting on Black Friday activities - At 5:00 am, the Best Buy parking lot was full and they were TAIL-GATING. I kid you not. Omelots, coffee, etc. 17 degrees with wind chill of 5 and they're tail-gating in the parking lot and no football game in sight.

Each to his own . . .

They were showing on our news last night, there were a couple of guys camping out at Best Buy. They wanted to be the first to get the new X-Box 360. They had ski masks, food, blankets etc. They were spending the night there. This morning they were talking about Best Buy again and they said the manager counted over a thousand people in line outside before they opened.

Wonder how many of those people got frost bite. It was pretty cold and windy here last night with wind chills in in the single digits. Too cold for me to camp out!!

Last night as we headed home from my grandparents house at SEVEN o'clock, there was already a line started, waiting outside of Best Buy and Circut City to get in this morning. No thanks. I stayed home ALL day today. I quilted and watched TV. Tomorrow I may venture into a fabric store and maybe a book store, but that's the closest to shopping you're gonna get me this weekend! I don't tend to shop at malls in the first place, but when they're this crowded, you better believe I'm steering clear...

OK, I never ever ever go to the stores on Black Friday. I hate to shop and I hate crowds. So there I was Wed evening doing laundry, feeling like crap since I have bronchitis and hadn't had a full nights sleep in days, when my 8 year old daughter starts screaming. Her glasses, which she never usually takes off but had given to me to play something and I had left on the coffee table, were being eaten by our Bichon "puppy" (14 months old). She had just gotten her new orthodontic appliance back from the orthodontist since the puppy had also eaten that. So what choice do I have but to get up bright and early on Fri and go to the mall to lenscrafters where she had gotten them. It turned out to be a blessing though because I managed to get an eye appointment and apparently her eyesight had worsened quite a bit. Did I buy any:confused: bargains?? No, I dragged myself home, got my daughter to her dad's house for the weekend, and finally slept 13 hours. What day is it?? I feel like scrooge.

I buy each of my close family members a $100.00 Gift Card to their favorite store.....Example ..Son..one to Pro Bass shop....they get GREAT bargains AFTER Xmas......:D ..Daughter and daughter-in-law..Their Nail place for manicures, ect. for 6 months..Son/in/law.. 2 rounds of Golf, ect....then add a few presents bought early..at a local outlet..Grandchildren..start picking up things in Oct. for them..(Don't ask me how many..:p }..Have to tell the story..when I had only 1 Grandchild..(Kameron)..He had everything..so bought him the same bike ..just a different color( How sad is that..:p ) Bonnie

Bob, we stayed out of the thick of it this year. Neither of us were up to it; not that we haven't before. I'm glad you had fun though. I'm usually enjoy our shopping sprees more than my wife for some reason...and she's the one who finds the best deals.

I'm with Bonny about the gift cards. That's all I'd do if it were up to me, but I do admit it's the easy way out...but, what's wrong with easy?
