Hey there -

I am still around, but so busy nowadays with high-school kids, Scouts, etc...

Just wanted to vent a little. I ordered a home test unit back in November. The price I was quoted for being a Kaiser Patient included the unit and 48 test strips. When I ordered the unit I ordered 48 strips, but was told that all they at that timer were boxes of 12, so i ordered 4 boxes.

Got the unit and checked the contents agains the packing list. The packinng list showed 4 boxes being packed, but there was only one box of 12 strips. I called back to their customer service and talked with Jason who explained that due to the recall they were out of strips, but they would backorder them and get them to me as soon as possible.

Come January and still no strips. Called back to the company and found that they had no record of my converstation, and did not know who Jason was. I finally spoke with someone (sorry, didn't note the name) who managed to get the missing strips sent to me.

Then the phone calls started, saying that they did not have the correct billing information for me, and would I please immediately remit $468. Eventually I talked with Linda, who said that she would look into it. After several conversations she assured me that the issue was taken care of, and that I would not see any more bills.

Now the bills are starting to show up again. Although they have not yet threatened sending me to collections, they have indicated that my account is over 90 days delinquent. I called and talked with Iris in their Accounts receivable department, and she assured me that she would look into this for me.

I don't want to say the name of the company, but in searching the forums I found other threads complaining about problems with this company...

Sorry for ranting, but had to get it out of my system. I understand that they sometimes read this forum, and perhaps that can bring a little more pressure for them to get it straightened out..

Cheers,

Swill

good to see you. It's been a long time. YOu look good. You sound good, except for your problems with that company. Maybe they will read this. Maybe you ought to put their name in your title of the thread. We don't have too many secrets here. What you said is a true story so they can't complain about it. It's a pain when companies can't keep their books straight. I hate that, but we all get it now and then but when it's that much $, it's truly a bigger pain. Wish you luck.

p.s. next time you talk to somebody, tell them to send their findings to you via letter and every time they send a bill, copy their letter and return it with the bill and mark your bill PAID IN FULL!

It's been resolved!!!

It's been resolved!!!

H Hensylee -

Whew, glad that is over. Called the company and Iris said she had it all fixed; I now have zero balance.

I hope I look good, seeing as that is a three year old picture. My son snapped that while I was chaperoning his 8th grade trip to the East Coast. I had so much fun on that trip that I have talked my wife into joining me as another chaperone for my younger son's trip. We leave in less than two weeks. I am planning to put together a blog of the trip, and you might get lucky and see a new shot of me. Hven't really changed much, though, except for a little more gray in my hair and beard...

Cheers!

glad you got it straight. My bro died in October. I handled his ins for many years to keep things in good order. There is one bill that his ins paid to him/me in January. We can't find the dr anywhere in the phone book - it's like he doesn't exist - so I can't pay that doctor bill. I NEVER pay a bill until all ins pays first and then they have to send me a bill. Guess I'll let it lie in the bank and gather a cent or two and if they ever bill me, I'll keep the two cents and pay him the rest.

We will look forward to seeing your new avatar after your trip. Enjoy.

Hi Swill

ISN'T IRIS JUST THE VERY BEST!!!!! WE JUST LOVE HER!!! I KEEP TELLING SAYING THAT LANCE SHOULD GIVE HER A HUGE RAISE....EITHER THAT OR ONLY LET HER HANDLE VR.COM CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PROBLEMS.

DON'T FEEL BAD, WE GOT APPROVAL FOR AN INRATIO FROM BOTH OUR INSURANCES, HAD IT SHIPPED AND NOW ARE GETTING BILLED FOR $1600ISH BECAUSE OUR INSURANCE HASN'T PAID YET.....DO YOU THINK IT COULD BE BECAUSE THE COMPANY IN QUESTION HAS BILLED THE WRONG INSURANCE COMPANY?????? YEP. HERE WE GO AGAIN. ALSO, WE ORDERED AN ELECTRIC CORD FOR THE MONITOR AND THEY BILLED THE INSURANCE, WHEN WE HAD PAID FOR IT IN FULL ON OUR CREDIT CARD. DOES THE RIGHT HAND KNOW WHAT THE LEFT HAND IS DOING????

I CAN'T BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES WE'VE GIVEN OUR CORRECT INSURANCES TO DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHETHER IT BE CUSTOMER SERVICE, SALES, OR BILLING.....YET, WE STILL GET EOB'S THAT SAY THEY'RE FILING AGAINST TYCE'S INSURANCE WHICH EXPIRED IN DECEMBER.....

ANYWAY, I'VE FINALLY REALIZED THAT THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH WHEN YOU USE THIS COMPANY.....AND IT'S OK BECAUSE WE LOVE DEALING WITH IRIS. SHE'S ALWAYS PLEASANT, COMPETENT, AND WILLING TO LISTEN.......THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!

don't mean to hijack, but I have a ?. How do you get Medicare to approve purchase of INR machine? My cousin is in bad need of one. They won't allow him to drive anymore, he must spend most of his time abed flat, but his dr wants a blood draw nearly every day sometimes. I kept telling him he should get a rx for a INR thing, but he called Medicare to see if they'd approve and they flat told him no. Naturally I said never call them because they will say no. I sent him qas home page and there is where it is now. Any advice - I know some of you have had trouble getting yours approved.

Reckon I should tell him to call Iris?

Insurance

Insurance

I paid for mine, but I have Kaiser insurance and they have a deal with QAS for a reduced price. I think I paid about a thousand for the unit and test strips

My father has since been put on warfarin and lives about an hour away from the doctors office, and his insurance company won't authorize a machine...

iris not only put up with me,she got my problem fixed. Thanks Iris!

Cheers,

The key primary requirement for Medicare coverage of a home tester is that the patient has to have a mechanical heart valve. The other things such as difficulty traveling, being lab tested for 3 months, INR control issues, etc, are secondary. There's also cost issues for the provider. Probably best to give QAS or Raytel a call and have them "pre-qualify" you. Remember - just because you meet some/most of the requirements, doesn't mean you'll get approved and get supplied a testing unit.
Good luck with everything. Remember, it cost nothing to look into it and find out.
