Hello all,
Well I never knew of this forum 3 weeks ago and never would have expected to be on it, but here I am (and thankful that such a forum exists). I was just diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve with moderate leakage (asymptomatic still...caught by chance; I'm 46 yrs of age)...I'm slowly getting past the 'freaked out' stage and am now in the midst of my research, and I had a question that I'm hoping someone may have experience with or knowledge on -

13 years ago I was diagnosed with having CRVO - Central Retinal Vein Occlusion - bleeding behind the left eye in all 4 quadrants with optic nerve swelling. It occurred once, was caught by chance during a routine eye exam and has never occurred again (to my knowledge). It cleared up, no vision loss and no impact to me whatsoever. And no explanation as to why it occurred. I'm just trying to understand what risks (if any) might arise for a re-occurrence of a vein occlusion of this nature either during or after aortic valve replacement surgery. Any linkage or association like there are with connective tissue disorders/aneurysms, etc? It may not have been an aortic aneurysm, but it was a blow out of sorts behind my eye...If anyone has any insight, it would be really appreciated. Thanks,

Tony
