beta blockers and emergencies

I am a nurse on a pediatric floor. I am also on beta blockers. When my patient coded tonight, my heart rate was unable to race like it use to. It was wierd. It is the first patient of mine that has coded since I have been on beta blockers.

I noticed this while I was on diltiazem, my HR didnt seem to respond well when I needed/wanted it to, it usually sat in the 60s until it decided to start taching away, seemed to get "on scene" more tired/sob than usual (I'm an RT, and was in school where there were tons of flights of stairs, inevitably the code was 4 floors up on the other end of the hospital when I needed to respond (rolls eyes)....
