Andrew has just had his Metroprolol increased and had the timing changed. aparently he needed to have more in the afternoon as he was throwing short v-tachs in the evening.

He is taking 75mg one in AM around 7-7:30 and then his second dose around 3 or 4 PM. This morning he forgot to take his morning meds until 12:30. Now I am in a quandry of when to give him his afternoon dose. Hope he didn't wait so long that he goes into v-tach today. He has those World Series tickets for tomorrow.

Also how early can he get his Enalapril (Vasotec) Ususally we try to keep it 12 hrs apart or so.

Suppose I should call the pharmacy to ask their opinion.

Any advice appreciated though. Hope you are all doing okay.

I'd skip the early morning dose and take the next dose on time. Missing one dose shouldn't hurt but talking to the pharmacist first might make you feel better about it.

Normally I would agree with you but Andrew goes into ventricular tachycardia which is potentionally life threatening and this medicine helps to keep him from doing this. He is not suppose to miss any doses. Besides that he had taken it already before I posted.

I did call the pharmacist and was told to have him take his second dose at 7:00. So far so good- No shocks. I would hate for him to have to go back and miss that game tomorrow.

hugs and prayers. I don't know diddly squat about beta blockers, but I do hope that Andrew has a fabulous time at the game tomorrow. He's certainly "earned" it. Much love. J.

mmm...sorry i am too late here also...but yeah...if i ever have a question related to my pilss and i take the "metropolis" as i call it :p too

...and of course these things always happen out-of-hours...

i ring a 24 hour Chemist or the Hospital who are only to happy to help out...

just a hint for next-time... :)

I used to take my Enalapril as equally-spaced as possible/reasonable...

I'm glad you called the pharmacist. I guess in order to prevent his defibrillator from firing you just have to reschedule his meds, or at least the one from the time he took the forgotten dose. I'm glad he didn't have any adverse effects. I guess I didn't fully understand your question and missed the whole scope. Sorry if I was a source of irritation. :)

Not at all. I was actually more relaxed about Andrew taking coumadin back when he had a mechanical than this beta blocker especially since this first shock. Now I am extra dilligent....don't miss a dose... Andrew did you take your medicine... Did I ask did you take your pills? You get the idea. :D
