Everytime I sweat alot, the next day I get a TREMENDOUS amount of pain when breathing in. The first time I went to the hospital, not knowing what was going on. After 2 days of testing, they told me I overdid it, and to ease into it.

Unfortunately, I sweat on my job, lots of walking, and climbing. This time I didn't even think about all the sweating or replacing the water, other than a soda I drank. That was Tue, and Wed at 3-4 am The pain kicked in. So, I'll probably take the rest of the week off, until I am feeling better.

I'm looking for suggestions on the quickest way to replace the electrolites. I'm aware of Gaterade, Powerade, and Pedialite. Which is going to work the best?

I think if I carry these in my truck, then as I am loading, and unloading, I can replace what I am loosing.

Orange juice is a great source of potassium. There are also OTC potassium supplements that would help but you want to make sure you don't take too much.

Bananas & Propel

Bananas & Propel

Bananas are really good for you as well as have a lot of good carbs. I recently have been drinking Propel Fitness flavored waters and love it. I am trying to avoid drinking sodas. This propel has very few sugars and is loaded with vitamins B's and other vitamins.

Hope you get to feeling better.

go into any proper running/bike shop and ask for electrolyte tabs. they are basically alka seltzer like tablets with a mild citrus flavor which you would drop into 8oz of water (or any drink for that matter). they are much better than gatorade/powerade, and they are relatively cheap. plus, they come in a cool plastic tube which prevents them from getting crushed. checkout http://electroblast.com/ (i order these for my shop!).

Hello:

My husband drinks orange juice, mixed 50/50 with water, daily. If we run out....he runs into problems, same day. Just an idea.

Gatorade for me. Lots of it. (and just coincidentally, both of my kids are Florida Gators... :) )

I'm a gatorade person. Rather than the normal one there is one that is called Endurance Formula that has higher concentrations of electrolytes. This might sound dumb, but for a recovery drink after a hard workout is regular SLIMFAST. It has a 4 to 1 Carb to Protein Ratio, same as the more expensive Accerorade. :D

Banana's and lots of Gatorade for me. I throw in some Protein Bars for lunch while I'm paddling.

Thanks everyone. This week, I also worked only 3 days, and I'll take off 4 days to recover. I feel better this week. I drank alot of water, Gaterade/Powerade, took one 90 mg Potassium a day, along with my Multi vitamin.

I dont feel the pain when I breath in, but my breathing seems heavy, like it's hard to breath deep. My back muscles ache, as if I just lifted some serious weight. That's to be expected, as I have not done enything with those muscles for the last 3 months. This week I am upping my protien, to speed the healing.

If things go well, I'll start weight lifting soon. Some high reps will get the blood flowing through the muscles.
