This kind a sums it up!!!!

Why hurricane season is like Christmas

10. Decorating the house (boarding up windows)
9. Dragging out boxes that haven't been used since last season (camping
gear, flashlights)
8. Last minute shopping in crowded stores
7. Regular TV shows pre-empted for "specials"
6. Family coming to stay with you
5. Family and friends from out-of-state calling
4. Buying food you don't normally buy ... and in large quantities
3. Days off from work
2. Candles
And the number one reason Hurricane Season is like Christmas ...

.. At some point you know you're going to have a tree in your house!

Yaps, your jut too much...LOL

Hi Yaps,
How in the wide world do you come up with these things?? LOL I suppose in this case it's first hand experience? LOL But seriously, I hope everything is going for you well and smooth....Harrybaby666 :D :D :D

My sister in Sarasota will laugh when I send her this.
It took she and her husband 8 hrs to install the steel window protector thingies, before Frances.
She wishes for the good old days of earth quakes when she lived in Santa Cruz!

Did your house survive OK Yaps?

I thought I read a post from someone saying that your house had been "destroyed". I hope that report is FALSE!

no; the rumors

no; the rumors

of my house's demise are incorrect. We made w/o damage, but many of my friends and neighbors have severe damage. My sister has a huge hole in her roof, and soo many are still w/o power.
Gulf Shores looks horrible, many friends and relatives work the gulf and some may never see their jobs again.
Ive lived in Key West, Fl, Jacksonville ,Homestead Fl, and Ive never seen such a terrible storm, ..lol..its the first time Ive evacuated..always rode them out.. but he was a cat5..cat1's can cause problems and death's, never been through a 5..
They say it may be this bad for 10-40 years... oh my...

Mornin, Yaps - I, too, read that your home was gone and I have been concerned for you and another member, Bill, who also lives in Pensacola. I am so glad to hear from you and know you are ok. Bill probably is, too, but I wish he would come in to let us know.

We, too, had no devastating damage to our own property, tho we have many damaged trees. Large limbs still hanging and broken, but they are not close to the house. The pump house roof was blown off but a cousin helped my daughter put it back. It's badly damaged and will have to be replaced at some later date, when we can get to it. A few house roof tiles blew off. The winds blew in a strange way, not one way for half the hurricane and the other way for the second half. It was like back and forth and round and round, so none of my big pines went down. One oak tree fell flat - we heard the thud during the night - would've gotten my car, but we had put the cars in what we hoped would be an open space if trees fell. Like you said, it was a very strange storm. Well, stranger than any I have ever seen.

We went uptown and got water and ice. Next day they were giving out cartons of precooked food - the kind they give the soldiers. We still have most of the water and the ice melted in the fridge and freezer made a mess - holes in the bags that we didn't see. Our power came on Saturday and phones were sporadic but seem stable now, except for the email server. Lines are wet below ground, workers are digging into them and email/net needs clean lines to work properly. All local motels are occupied by out-of-towner utility people who are here to bring systems back. I am sure it's the same in Pensacola area.

My cousin lived on his boat in a marina. The boat was stored so is ok, but all marinas are gone and they won't be rebuild for permanent boat parking, as he had before. He is homeless right now.
