Nothing Up Here Bonnie...

Nothing Up Here Bonnie...

We did have one heck of a ice/sleet/freezing rain/and rain storm here a couple of days ago, but no significant snow here in New Hampshire yet...BUT...then again, the weatherman said that we were going to have spring like temps today...YEAH RIGHT....it was cold and damp. Where IS the Summer? LOL :D :D :D Harrybaby666

it has been unseasonably warm here. The hurricanes messed up everything, fooled trees into thinking it's spring. We have blooming wild violets in the yard and this never happens until March! But, like Bonnie, the north winds have moved in, bringing quite cold temps with it. But it looks like Christmas (in Florida)

Subject: A woman's version of the night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the
kitchen;

I was cooking and baking and moanin' and bitchin'.

I've been here for hours, I can't stop to rest.
This room's a disaster, just look at this mess!

Tomorrow I've got thirty people to feed.
They expect all the trimmings. Who cares what I need!

My feet are both blistered, I've got cramps in my legs.
The cat just knocked over a bowl full of eggs.

There's a knock at the door and the telephone's ringing.
Frosting drips on the counter as the microwave's dinging.

Two pies in the oven, dessert's almost done;
My cookbook is soiled with butter and crumbs.

I've had all I can stand, I can't take anymore;
Then in walks my husband, spilling rum on the floor.

He weaves and he wobbles, his balance unsteady;
then grins as he chuckles "The egg nog is ready!"

He looks all around and with total regret,
says, "What's taking so long....aren't you through
in here yet?"

As quick as a flash I reach for a knife;
He loses an earlobe; I wanted his life!

He flees from the room in terror and pain
and screams, "MY GOD WOMAN, YOU'RE GOING INSANE!!"

Now what was I doing, and what is that smell?
Oh darn it's the pies! They're burned all to hell!

I hate to admit when I make a mistake,
but I put them on BROIL instead of on BAKE.

What else can go wrong? Is there still more ahead?
If this is good living, I'd rather be dead.

Lord, don't get me wrong, I love holidays;
It just leaves me exhausted, all shaky and dazed.

But I promise you one thing, If I live 'til next year,
You won't find me pulling my hair out in here.

I'll hire a maid, a cook, and a waiter;
and if that doesn't work, I'LL HAVE IT ALL CATERED

Loved the poem Ann. It gave me a laugh on a day that I've been bah humbugging all day long while setting up my Dickens Village. I love the holidays. I love Christmas decorations. I just HATE to do the decorating myself (as well as the clean up). When I win the lottery, I'm hiring a holiday decorator!

We had our Christmas feeling on Thanksgiving with all the snow we had. It was so pretty. Now it's just wet and soggy. I wish we had snow and so does Buckley because he has to have his paws wiped every time he comes in the house.

It's just cold, gray and wet here in southern Ohio. I miss California. Even tho there was not snow in the winter where I lived, at least the sky was blue.
I don't even have space to set up my Christmas decorations because I am still whittling away at boxes and trying to consolidate 3 households (my 2 CA homes back into my OH home). Right now it seems impossible and I have no clue in what boxes my Dicken's village is hibernating. So, I guess like Brigadoon, the village will have to wait to wake up until next year.
Maybe I will at least get a wreath up or put bows on the cats.
I guess I am bah humbugging a bit but I am sure I will get over it.
Smiles, :)

Karlynn, Buckley sounds like my old hound dog, Miss Sally Sue. She knows that when she comes home wet, she must stand at the door to be dried off with a towel. She loves it - but the threat of even one drop of rain brings her running for cover and if it thunders or lightnings (how do you spell that, anyway), she expects to be taken to bed and held close til it's over. Spoiled children that we have.

Whoever, up there in Yankee Land, :D that left the back door open..please close it..They are saying our low's for Tuesday and Wed. a.m.'s will be 16..Burrrrr..I like it cold but not when the birdbath freezes over. :eek: Bonnie

It should be here!

It should be here!

Harry, summer is here in Brazil, at least in name!LOL!! We should be having great weather by now, but it's been terribly cold and rainy over the past couple of days. I hope it improves though for we'll be moving house soon and I just hate doing removal on cold days! As for Christmas, we are now on our way out for a spending spree at the shopping mall.
