Not being from the US I am unsure what to make of this.
Having heard of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" I thought it was a patriotic US verse, yet the imagery on the link has religious overtones.

Having heard of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" I thought it was a patriotic US verse, yet the imagery has religious overtones.

It is essentially a Christian hymn, thus the religious tone. It is traditionally a US patriotic song.

Thanks for sharing. That was great they can't take everything out of the schools. That hymn is one of the best!!!
