Be careful clearing the snow this winter!

I do all the leaf clearing with the very large TroyBilt 8 hp. chipper/vac that we have, and all the snow clearing with a huge snowblower we have. I can truthfully say that lugging those machines around, turning them, getting them out of a jamb is very, very strenuous. They weigh an absolute TON. If they ever quit on you, you have to manually push them, or try to start them with the pull cord (yeah, right, almost pulled my arm out of the socket and it got my heart's attention). I just finished three days solid of using the chipper/vac and I am sore all over. It's a lot of work. Both machines have a big drive on them, but it doesn't matter much because I'm always lugging them and shoving them.

And we all forget that they have a lot of fume emissions and the carbon monoxide isn't good for your heart, even in the cold air.

Joe was told long ago to never clear snow. And he sticks to that religiously. :D :D :D

Most neighbors have a plow service. For some perverse reason, I like doing that stuff.

Anyone close to me with a cheap snowblower for sale? I need to do something about this soon. I can't do it, but Lyn tries with no help and it's taking a heavy toll on her too. We don't even have any kids in the neighborhood to pay to do it, not that we could afford to, but you get the idear. :(

But but but

But but but

I LIKE to shovel snow. This is quite sad. Guess I'll have to revert to snow angels while my husband shovels. Fortunately we don't exactly live in the snow belt.

After moving back from the south last year we were forced to purchase a snow blower. Lightweight (Toro)....new design does not jam up, etc. Really simple to use.

After I read the release yesterday....asked my hubby what to do when he's away. As Ross said.....grab a neighborhood kid. Fortunately we have many willing pre-teens in the area! They did a nice job with some of the leaves too. Bulk of our shoveling is the sidewalk. Would be silly to hire a service to take care of city property:D

I've been living in the southwest now since 1977 and I can honestly tell you that it beats shoveling snow any time. I grew up in Holland and lived there a total of 24 years.
Lived in Ontario, Canada for about 7 1/2 years, but scraping the windshield of the car and shoveling the snow was awful. I remember some years we got a total of 89 inches. It won't matter how wonderful the area is where you live, and how many family and friends you have living close by. When winter comes
(and it always does too soon) shoveling snow becomes a real burden after a while, and for people like us it simply is dangerous. So don't do it, and hire college kids to do it. They will appreciate you giving them the job and being able to make the extra money.

Better safe than sorry.

Thanks, I needed that!

Just got home from my trip into the city for my echo (my 1/2 hour drive took an hour going and an hour and 15 coming home.)

Checked my email - came on to check new posts -

To say I had a good laugh is putting it mildly.
