I wish you were here during the Pro Football Hall of Fame festivities. We have "Light up the Night" weather permitting, when roughly close to 100 balloons go up at dusk. They're teathered for this event, then at 6 am the next morning, it's 2 days of balloon invitationals and our whole area is full of balloons. It is quite a site to behold.

That is on my husbands and I list of things to do when we retire. I have always wanted to go see the Hot air ballon festival.

This pic is neat, makes you wanna be in a balloon:)
For now i'll drive my car to garage ,due for rest

Cool pic, Dennis!

One of these years I'll get to see this balloon festival. Didn't get to see it in 2004 when I was through the area after the VR Reunion in Colorado. And, I won't get to see it when I'm in the Albuquerque area in 2009 during the Route 66 tour (official announcement coming soon!)...because that'll be a month earlier than the balloon festival :(.

BUT...I have seen a number of awesome photos from previous festivals. Hope to see it in person one day.....

Mary, Sue I'm with you. I would love to take a Hot Air Balloon ride. I have been trying to get someone to take one with me for years.

Cort: I don't know if you know this but there is a Hot Air Balloon Port in Fox River Grove. Which is about 10 minutes away from me. You sign up on a list, pick a few dates, and when the weather is right, they call you that day, or the day before and take you on a ride. The price isn;t cheap, if I recall, but I'm sure it would be worth it.

It may ne too late for this year, but how about next year. Maybe we can get some local members to get together for a ride. Gina, Steve, Della Anne, Perry? Then we could go back to Algonquin, do brunch at Port Edwards and go shoot pool! I'm not sure how long the wait list is, but I could check into it. I think it would be a lot of fun! something to think about for an outing.

Dennis: Thanks for the pictures. I wonder if there were any ballonist from our area? All late spring and summer every year, I see the Hot air Balloons, travelling over my house on clear days. They are Awesome!

AMEN!!!!!!

Actually, I also know of a place near Galena IL ... a former co-worker goes there at least once a year.

Hmmm..."grabbing" your idea, Lorraine ... and mentioning it in the January 2009 gathering thread ;). Hope that is OK!
