TIM W.

Hello All Again,

Tim was hoping to come home Tues. but his Bloodgases were to low (82) , needed to be in 90's for dr. to release him. Today they were 97 but he still had a fever. they also thought he had an alergic reaction to tape or invection. They did catscan and came back negative. If no other setbacks he should be home Thurs. he is very ready to come home and we all miss him. He feels he was doing so good then went backwards. His cousin(karrie) told him he will have good and bad days. Karrie is a nurse at the hosp. he is at, on the heart recovery floor. I think he liked having family there that can give info and help out. They were giving him a sleepingpill tonight so he can get more than 6 hours sleep. That was the most sleep he has had since last week.Karrie was able to get him a real nice recliner to sleep in last night, and it helped.
He is doing pretty good on walking to end of hallway and back. (almost 1/4 mile up and back)He said the food isn't to bad considering it is from hosp. They have menus like a restaurant to order from. With little hearts by food he can have.
He was wondering if there has been any post from Swill but I told him I haven't seen any. He had surgery right before Tim and they were born only days apart, isn't that ironic. Let me know so I can pass word to Tim.
That's all for now. Maybe next post will be from Tim if he is up to it.
If not I will post when he gets home.
Take care to all
Donna

These first few days are goijng to be a combination of up and down. It is important to just accept each day for what it brings. Much of what we experience is from the body as it fights the damage it has just gone through. Have him dress in loose clothing, use that recliner and sleep. Be sure he takes his pain killeres. None of this macho I can take it man stuff. Any little questions just ask. Good luck!

Donna tell him that my set backs had me in the hospital for 60 days (I'm one that almost didn't make it), so I can really attest to wanting to come home! He's pretty much on the standard norm for this surgery. He's going to have ups and downs, but all in all, even with what he considers set backs, he's doing wonderful. Tell him I have a great story for him to read when he gets home and feels like it. That should make him feel better about his situation.

Will is home and has posted a few times. He hasn't said much at all about his surgery, so I assume he's still sorting things out in his mind. I'm sure he'll hop in and say something when he sees this thread. I'm still waiting for a private message from him from a couple days ago. You can see his home post and print it for Tim. It's about 3/4 of the way down the page at the link below:

Family means everything when you've gone through this surgery. Give him all the support and be there as much as you possibly can. It means alot more then I can put into words.

Thanks for keeping us updated and tell him he's loved and missed. We can't wait for his return.

hi donna!
i 'm so sorry to hear that tim isn't coming home as soon as you had all hoped. sometimes there are these "bumps in the road" to recovery.
joey had the same thing happen. he was all set to go home on the fourth day post-op when he went into afib and had to stay in the hospital a few extra days.
just try and be patient with tim's recovery. hopefully, once he is home things will just go smoothly and he will rest, walk , and do his breathing exercises as needed.
i know we all want our significant others/ spouses to come home as soon as they can after this surgery. it makes us feel like the patient is well on the way to recovery, besides just having them home and near...
soon...
wishing you and tim all the best.
thank you for keeping us posted and please wish tim well for us.
