Hello again friends,

For the last three nights, i have been having an extremely strong heart beat while I sleep at night. In fact, it has been so strong that it wakes me up. Is this one of the advanced symptoms of BAV insufficiency?

If this is a new symptom to you and you are very concerned, it's always a good idea to call your cardio/doc.
The saying is when in doubt check it out.
Heart palpitations and chest pain can be a possible symptom of aortic stenosis/insufficiency. However, the doctor will base decision making on your echo results and other tests besides possible symptoms.
Just another thought...heart palpitations can also be related to anxiety.
Hope you get it sorted out.
Good luck.

I agree with what ottagal mentioned; It could also be caused by Anxiety, especially with everything that is going on with you these days.
Best advice when discomfort is heart related,, is to see a doctor. If you go to an ER and mention that you are having chest discomfort they will move you to to the top of the line, and run a full battery of tests.

Obviously, we can only share our experiences and thoughts and cannot render online an diagnosis. I can tell you that I had considerable anxiety once I started down the path of lots of testing, doctor appointments, etc. That anxiety manifested itself in physical symptoms that were similar to symptoms that I expected to feel from the stenosis. . rapid heartbeat, waking up at night with my heart pounding, light headed, etc. While some of these may have been influenced by the stenosis, I now am confident they were primarily driven by anxiety.

Distraction was the best medicine for me. While internet research and on line groups like this are super helpful, it also helped me to do something else. I was also always comforted when I walked out of an appointment with my cardio. Not because there was any new great news, but I was confident that he wasn't going to let me walk out after a echo or whatever, if there was some imminent risk. I don't know if it was reasonable for me to make that inference but I did and it helped. You had a battery of tests run. I think if they thought something bad was about to happen, they would have done something more than schedule some additional tests a week or so from now.

I agree. If it's new and you don't know, get it checked.
