Well, it looks like I'm headed back to the hospital again. My incision had started bleeding last Tuesday and I went in to see my doctor and she said it wasn't a bit deal. So I ignored it, and kept putting new bandages over it (each day there was only about a nickle size spot on the bandage). Well, today there was some puss along with the blood, so I called in to her service. The on-call doc said to come in to the hospital and I was most likely going to need to be admitted and put on antibiotics. If there is any indication of infection, they'll have to take the ICD out.

WHY, OH, WHY CAN'T ANYTHING GO RIGHT THESE DAYS????

Oh Niki, I am sorry to hear that you continue to have problems. But at least it sounds as though they are acting to take care of it....Sending you lots of positive energy and "holding you in the light".

This is a lousy month for ya isn't it?

This is a lousy month for ya isn't it?

Hi Nikki..
I am so sorry to hear that you have to go into the hospital again for your incision. I hope that they can fix it so they don't have to take your ICD out. I will be thinking about you and you have my hugs and prayers!! Harrybaby666 :D :D :D

I had

I had

an infection in my chest incision, as well as one leg from my by-passes, dosent feel good at all. Get on antibiotics as soon as possible so it dosent spread, hope you are better soon. I know how it feels, love Yaps

Niki - good things just have to be in your future - you've just about used up all your bad luck.

Hang in there and know that we are praying for you.

Gawd Niki, you sure have been hit with it this month!!!! Hey, better safe than sorry. Now get thee to the hospital and get back home again. Seems as though you're in the "one step forward and two steps back" category.

Be better......

Evelyn

Home again, home again

Home again, home again

jiggity-jig...

Well, that wasn't so bad after all... Even though the on-call doc had said that I was going to end up admitted, when the ER doc took a look at the incision she said it didn't look infected and instead put some steri-strips over it, gave me a tetnis shot, and sent me on my way with instructions to follow up with my regular doctor... She said something about "granulation tissue" and passed off the stuff we were seeing as no big deal. Certainly puts my mind at ease at least. And I'm SO relieved to not be spending yet another night in the hospital! Let's just pray it stays that way...

Thanks so much for the good vibes and prayers. They are very much appreciated.

Niki,

I hope it all heals soon. I had a foot incision that was supposed to heal in a week and took 12. Two rounds of antibiotics and two rounds of steroids. I think now looking back that it poor circulation probably didn't help. If it doesn't look better in a day or two, make sure you press them to try something to make it heal faster. It succkkks. ((((hugs))))

Dear Niki,

I'm so sorry that you are having so many problems. The only thing that I would be wondering is if they need to do blood cultures and a culture of the wound drainage to make sure there is not an infection just to be on the safe side. It may have been just granulation tissue though. I have seen that before in a child that had had OHS. Is there any redness or swelling? If so, how much?

Debbie

No redness, no swelling. It has just been bleeding pretty much constantly since Tuesday (though more so at some times than others), and then today it had some off white goo (puss?) mixed in with the blood. There is one spot at one end of the incision that does not look like it is healing at all, like the rest of it is. I have not had a fever at all, and it is not painful. Doctors have looked at it and told me it's nothing to worry over, but it's hard not to when you're bleeding for this long a time with no end in sight...

Niki

Niki

I will pray and hope your incision heals very well and quickly. It is nerve-wrecking when you are trying to feel better and something goes haywire. My two eyes took time to heal. But I had to keep them uncovered and took great care of them. You will be fine also. It takes a little time. Have a great week.

Dear me Niki, you sure have been having a rough time lately! Even without an infection, if the wound has been constantly bleeding (even if only a little), it surprises me that they aren't overly concerned about it. Surely there's something they can do to help stem it enough so the wound heals.

I hope your luck turns around soon!

Sending positive thoughts and best wishes your way.....
Anna : )

Geez! NIKI!

Geez! NIKI!

Don't do that to me. Go offline for a couple of days and then open up to this!!! REmind me to read any new posts from you starting with the last posts first, will ya? I've been on the shortest roller coaster ride in history just reading through these posts. (((((((((Hugs))))))))))) Glad to hear that this is hopefully nothing to worry about - although I don't like the sounds of granulation tissue - sounds too close to gangrenous tissue, I guess. Hope today went well and the bleeding and pain have subsided completely. You stay in my prayers, girl, but I am going to have to work on the wording apparently as the Big Guy is just not getting the message that you need a break.............for several years to come. Love and hugs and let us know how you are doing.
