I'm back!
After emergency valve surgery, pneumonia, and a variety of other near-
death"experiences" I'm back home again. I thank you all deeply for your kind thoughts and prayers. I was very touched when my wife Debbiebrought me 32 pages of your messages while I was in the hospital. my objective now is to recover fully from the stroke that I suffered right after surgery. On top of that, I have yet to begin my cardiac therapy for the valve replacement, although I am receiving physical therapy, occupational therapy, and cognitive therapy at home. This whole thing began with what I thought was a sinus infection. After five nights of being unable to sleep and catch my breath. I went to the emergency room at Mercy Hospital. on the preceding Monday. I gone to my personal doctor and she to believe that this was nothing more than a sinus infection. When I called her back on Wednesday and told her the antibiotics didn't seem to be doing anything. She told me to go to the drugstore and by some mucinex which is simply an expectant. Never did she suggest that I go to a cardiologist, nor did she administer any tests for congestive heart failure (which is what it turned out to be). By the time I went to the emergency room on Saturday, I could barely breathe. It was there that I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. As it turned out after surgery. I was told that theheart valve that I had implemented three years ago, and failed catastrophically. This was a homograft (cryolifesyner- graft). Prior to the surgery. My surgeon Dr. Michael King said, one of the valve's cuspshad disintegrated. at any rate, I am luckyto be aliveand have a prognosis for 100% recovery.
Once again. Thank you all for your kind words and supportin what as a very difficult time for my family and me!
My best regards to all of you,
