I am feeling so much better having spent time with the anesthesiologist, Cardiac nurse and cardiac rehab people. They answered so many questions and were so nice about it all. A man from Mended Hearts was there, he had OHS 17 yrs ago. He helped with some of my fears also.

They had us watch a short video of what to expect on the day of surgery, after, etc. They have you start cardiac rehab in the hospital the day after surgery!

Hope everyone is having a beautiful day!

Debbi, it is surprising how much better one feels after you get to talk with the people who are going to help you through surgery and the start of your recovery. I don't remember much of my days in the ICU but I do remember sitting up for the first time and later standing next to my bed while I still had all the equipment attached. The first walk out of the recovery room was exhausting but it felt good to be moving and each walk seemed to be better. A few days later on my first morning home it was even nicer to walk outside. I hope all goes well for you.

I will be at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati Oh.
I did feel so much better. Obviously with tomorrow being the big day, today I am having a lot of stress and anxiety. But I vow to keep busy until I get to bed tonight. Tonight will be tough, it will be the last time I see my 3 yr old grandson until I get home, that will be hard. But I am going to try to be strong for all of my family, as they are so worried now as it is.
