I hit a small bucket of balls at the driving range today...nothing but pitching wedge and 8 irons. It's the first time I've swung a golf club since my surgery (actually since my endocarditis last fall). Boy am I sore, but it's a good sore.
Will do Bob. Golf is like therapy to me...not much cheaper than "professional" therapy but it works just as well! I just have to gradually work back into it and make sure not to overdo. I only carried those 2 clubs with me so I wouldn't be tempted to pull out the driver and "grip it and rip it". I was pleasantly surprised with how I hit it. Maybe it's because I was consious of my sternum and took smooth easy swings. Maybe all the problems I've had with my sternum will be just the thing I needed to take my game to the next level.
Bryan it's so good to hear you sounding better. Your Aunt Glenda was worried about you for a while.
This will be my forth week into cardia rehab and I can't say enough good things about this plan. I go three times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. Now I'll have to admit sometimes it's really hard for me to get there but once I'm there and finished I feel so much better. It last about an hour. I walk, lift arms weights, do arm exercises on a machine, do leg exercises on a machine. They have a nurse for about every patient. You have monitors on you all the time which they monitor faithfully. About half way through each exercise they take your blood pressure. After you are done, you do a cool down walk and sit until your pressure counts go down. Like I said this is a wonderful program.
I also have started riding my four wheeler again which I love to ride our in our hay fields. I just don't jump the small hills or go very fast. I'm very careful! !
I haven't started brush hogging yet because the big tractor is rather hard to turn but by this fall (Oct. or Nov.) I think I'll be able to handle it. I love to brush hog too. It's so relazing, just me and the tractor out in the field. I've done this kind of work since I was about 12 years old.
You keep up the good work and attitude. I'm so proud of you.
