I was wondering if those of you that have had multiple open heart surgeries have ever heard of or had your axillary artery and femoral artery used for putting you on the heart-lung bypass.
I'm 4 weeks post op from my 3rd OHS and I have a large incision on my right upper chest just below my clavicle because they used my axillary artery and right femoral artery to place me on heart-lung bypass. I've was told by the doctors and NP's that cared for me post op that it's a common approach for placing a redo patient on bypass.
