Well I set the date today. I am going in to Tacoma General on the 5th of January to get the On-X in the Aorta and an Aortoplasty. I just wish I could sneak off and do it without having to figure out where my divorced parents will stay etc.

I had an awkward situation but with relatives who offered to come out and "help" me; and I knew that it was the kind of "help" I didn't need. I asked them to please come out later, when I was feeling better and would be up to the visit, well after the surgery. For me, it ended up being a very good call, though it may not work for your situation. Best wishes :) .

Let them figure it out--you have other things to worry about. :) I agree with Lily. Any 'help' you get needs to be unconditional and unsupervised.

Good news about getting a date set, though!

Good news to learn you have set the date. All will be well. As for your parents, let them figure it out. If they can't be civilized to each other for you, then likely they need to grow up a little rather that put you in the middle. I will be praying for you on the 5th of January. Have someone post for you to let us know you are over the mountain. :)

James, good deal with having a date set. The day before my birthday at that. So from one VR member to another, you can give me a birthday present of waking up after your surgery, and smile and know you made it and are gonna do great!

Good thing you have a dtae set.Now please try to relax and work on getting yourself into that peaceful space which we all seem to find before the operation. Enjoy Christmas and the new year celebrations and let others find their own niche and usefulness in your AVR journey.
