I am sorry it took me so long. I am doing better the infection is getting some what better. It is still leaking some but nothing like it was. I have one day of antibiotics left. I know that will not be enough. I am going back to my pcp on monday and I am debating waiting till then or calling him tomorrow to let him know I am still having some drainage. I also go back to my surgeon on next friday the 6th so they can check it. So I am kinda at a what to do mode cause I don't want it to bet worse once I finish my meds. but I have been to the doctor so much lately I am tired of going. What would you do?

Hi April,
It might be worth asking if you can have some topical antibiotic cream to put on the incision - that way the antibiotics might fight the germs more effectively. I know you're probably sick of going to the doctor all the time but you've got to stand up for yourself. It took several weeks for Jim's staph infection in his incision to be diagnosed (mainly because the first doctor who gave him oral antibiotics didn't swab it and the antibiotic tablets he prescribed didn't really do much) and now the bit where it was infected is a lot wider and lumpier than the rest of his scar. The sooner you can get it treated and cured the better.
So in the long run, being a pain in the neck to the doctors is worth it!! :) They work for you, remember that.
Gemma.

April,

If you need more antibiotics, your treatment needs to be CONTINUOUS. If you Stop and then Start back, it allows the weakened bacteria to become RESISTANT to that anti-biotic so DO NOT WAIT, CALL your PCP, tell him what is going on, and see if he wants to order a second round of anti-biotics.

Wise advice - call today.

April-

We're all tired of going to the doctor, however, that is not a good reason for not taling care of business.

Don't let this problem get another toe-hold on you. Call today and get another round of medication. You have the number of that nice gal who helped you. Take full advantage of it.

No more excuses. Being sick of doctors is not a valid excuse!

They won't call you, you have to call them.

Thanks, Nancy!

Thanks, Nancy!

Nancy,
I love that answer! I'm going to take it to heart myself and give the cardiologist a call. I've put it off for a few weeks. Thanks for the reality check!

I hope you're doing well.
Mary

Ok ok

Ok ok

I will call today, I will not wait till monday. I have also been using neosporin on the site even though my surgeon told me not to. It is a triple antibiotic cream.
