I am having my surgery Thursday 11-16-06. I am going to get the ATS valve. I was told that it does not make as much noise as the others. Anyone know about this valve.

Thanks Steve

Can't help you with your question but wanted to with you luck on Thursday! May everything go smoothly for you, Steve. God Bless!

My husband has the ATS valve. He had his AVR on 9/11/01. His doctor said if he wanted a Mechanical valve the ATS is what he used. So far,so good. I don't have any other valves to compare it with as far as noise. But, I think the ticking noise bothered him at first and now hes used to it. If I hug him real close or sometimes at night when its quiet I can hear it ticking. It is comforting to me because I know it is doing its job. He did have a few guys at work ask him why his watch was so loud.

That makes 2 of us who would like to know more about the ATS valve.

Out of curiosity, where are you having your surgery (city, state, hospital) and who is your surgeon?

Best wishes for a successful surgery and smooth recovery.

Steve, I will put you on the calendar for 11/16 and want to take this opportunity to wish you the very best. I hope you can have someone post for you. Godspeed!

I wonder if your surgeon changed his name to put his patients at ease:D ...talk about your mythic heros! Surely you are in great hands, Steve!

All the best to you.

The ATS is a high-end valve, on a par with the newer carbon offerings. It's not the only quiet valve, but it's rated as a good one.

You'll do well Thursday. You'll be in my thoughts.

Best wishes,

The ATS valve will keep you alive for a long, long time. That's all that matters.

Does the ATS come with the Dacron graft?

Does the ATS come with the Dacron graft?

Does the ATS come with the Dacron graft for aortic aneurisms as the St. Jude does, and On-X does not? Does anyone have any other views on the ATS pros-cons vs. the St. Jude or On-X?
